Damn Hodges to IR...at least he'll get paid for the year.

On 1010 this morning the orthopedic surgeon they have as a weekly guest says the fact Hodges hasn't had surgery at this point is a good sign because it indicates the injury was most likely a dislocated kneecap with a possibility of ligament tears. He says a month on IR should be enough time to mostly recover, but there's still the potential for surgery if the ligaments are torn badly. 

So, there's hope we see Hodges off IR in 4 weeks.

Heard on 1010xl Baalke commenting that both players must sit for at least 4 weeks. He was very non-committal on Hamilton as to when he'd be able to return.

Have they said he's done for the year somewhere?  As it stands, going on IR now means he could conceivably come back week 5.  It doesn't automatically mean out for the year unless they've diagnosed his injury as such.

Since it is a non-football injury they don't have to say anything and they are staying close-lipped. 

Hoping it's something he can recover this season. We need him.

He had the best pass pro win rate of all the Jags IDLs last year.

For me, stopping the run isn't as important as creating pressure on passing downs from the middle. The tacks had the best rush defense in the league last year and look where it got them. They got torched in the passing game. 

The Jags will likely be in more than a few shootouts this year and they need to pressure the QB. Not too worried about Richardson, Stroud or Ridder in the first 4 weeks but obviously worried about Mahomes.

Then they play Josh Allen in week 5. Hopefully he is back for that game.

That's not saying much, we don't have anyone that can constantly create pressure on the inside, hes our best DT.  He excelled the most against the run.  He's our starting NT, on early downs you want Hamilton at NT and Fatukasi at 5 tech opposite RRH.  If it's 3rd and long Hamilton is likely coming off the field

Coey Peters got a lot of snaps at NT last year.  They didn't sign Fatukasi to be our NT.  They signed him to be a starter on and part of our base 3 man front with Hamilton at NT and Fatukasi at 3 tech to beef up our run game.    He played nowhere near as good last year as he did with the Jets a couple years ago, he didn't live up to his contract and you can say it was just because he was hurt bit you have no clue if that's the only reseaon why he wasn't very good last year, we can only hope.   Hopefully he plays up to his contract this year and can step up in Hamiltons absence. And it's definitely a concern from the way he played last year, he was nowhere near as good as Hamilton

In his and half the fanbase’s defense, rumor has it Baalke was the one who pitched hiring Meyer. It makes sense because he had a prior affinity for college coaches (eg, Chip Kelly). Drafting Tavon Walker at #1, against conventional wisdom, still looks like an ego-driven quest to be seen as the smartest guy in the room. Yes, he’s drafted well overall here and struck gold on some free agent acquisitions, but let’s not overlook Pederson’s considerable influence over the operations. I’m sure he had a hand in merging the position coaches’ draft assessments with the scouts’. Pederson, who reportedly was leery of working with Baalke given his arrogant reputation, likely requested to report directly to Khan rather than Baalke. Thus, Baalke seems like a chastened man, willing to allow the coaches to have a lot of input on personnel.

I never once heard Baalke pushed Meyer. Meyer was buddy-buddy with Khan from everything I heard.
