Unnecessary roughness

We all know Cisco is getting a penalty against KC for this. After the Juju hit last year, they're going to be on him.
The Lloyd one was a terrible call, I can see how the Cisco one was called, even though I disagree with it. The Lloyd one was horse [BLEEP] though.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

How can a defender adjust to the offensive player shifting his body to cause the illegal "hit" after he has already committed/launched his body. And to further piggyback off the wrap up and hug comment. Are the refs going to start blowing the whistle dead then when defenders get the QB in the same position? To prevent those little backyard flicks out there that Mahomes does now or what Richardson did yesterday? Are they going to stop allowing these goofy [BLEEP] rugby scrums to stop when a pile occurs and a RB is still upright? This is the problem I have with the NFL. It's clearly geared to favor offenses now while completely neutering defenders and trying to take out as much special teams opportunities on kick-off's and punt returns as much as possible. We'll never see another dynamic safety in the NFL anymore or a returner because of these rules. It sucks. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? If you're already off the ground looking for contact on a guy who isn't even in possession of the ball yet and not facing you, you're gonna get the flag. Every player in the league knows it. Whether it's defenseless receivers or mid-air collisions, a lot of these are caused by guys launching themselves like torpedos into a play, and that's a big part of what they are trying to discourage. Contact is fine. Get your base, wrap up, and smack a guy in the mouth, just fine. That's fundamental football. Not sure if that makes me soft. Big hits will happen, yes, but another part of the game in the past was actual sets of pads. I think a big difference between then and now is not only the amount of padding, but the speed that padding or lack thereof allowed for contact. Go back and look at the pads that DBs/Safeties wore in the 80s to what they wear today - I think Motocross riders wear more padding than today's DBs and WRs.

I hate these calls, but they are going to keep protecting players more and more as the years wear on.
I wish they'd find a way for LBs and DBs to "punish" receivers and TEs on these late developing catches over the middle without all the flags. There isn't a perfect way to tackle these guys while they are moving the way they are at impact- and every contact is different. You can't just ask the back seven to concede these types of plays. They need to be hit/tackled and they already have a lot of momentum in many cases. It's very frustrating to me.

And it will remain frustrating as we move closer and closer to "player safety" in a contact sport. It's like making boxers go out on PPV with sparring helmets on, it's a joke and I fear for the longevity of the sport. I love football, but if you make too many subtle changes, it becomes noticeably drastic over time. Eventually it won't be football anymore. Charmin Cisco, gently squeezing you onto the IR.

Cisco had dude hanging 10 after the hit. I went back and watched it a few times and Ogletree was stood up and was swerving like he just drank a 12 pack.
One of the hardest hits in Jaguars history. Probably in the top 5. The hit Darius put on Ferguson was crazy but I saw him hit Keyshawn Johnson so hard I saw a ghost leave his body. Beasley peeled off a WR one time and knocked a TE out. The Cisco hit last year up in KC was nice, but the hit he put on Ogletree was a mega-thump. Haven’t seen that type of hitting since Darius back in the late 90’s.
You guys took launching too much into the comment. I really meant committed to the strike point.

That's the only thing that's going to stop this from happening. Completely agree. The other [BLEEP] part about ciscos flag is that the te lowered his head into Cisco. Dre didn’t launch at the runners head level, it was initially more at chest to shoulder level. Also the runner/ball carrier was not defenseless and he completely saw it coming so the not only was it clean he did nothing to avoid contact but the refs act like he is the victim. Well as Jags fans we're all used to the double standard. No Call on our players, especially our QB, getting whacked....but let one ours "touch" someone like Tom Brady look out! The Jags D has a tradition to maintain...love Cicso on the field.
Because Jaguars is our mantra
