He's not an edge rusher. Put 20 pounds on him and move him inside.

Still has work to do as a pass rusher but I see improvement. Let's see how it goes. Inside stunts are enough to get him matched against guards.

Travon Walker: 2nd Year Thoughts Etc (merged)

They should have draft Hutch or traded the pick for whatever.

He can still be a good player, but he will never live up to anyone's expectations for a No. 1 pick.

No one was trading for the pick.

We should have drafted Hutch if they really didn't want sauce. Drafting a project at #1 overall will always be the wrong move.

Two tackles for loss at least. I think he’s going to be fine actually. Not elite but a good player.

Definitely worth the #1 overall pick.

You don’t use a number one overall pick on a a “good” player

He was facing an entire line of backups. He should have had 1.5 sacks , 3-4 pressures, and a batted pass.

Or a project.

I will give him a little more time but it's not looking that great.

Definitely worth the #1 overall pick.

Yeah definitely not worth the #1 overall pick but that’s a sunk cost at this point.

He should have been someone else’s project, not ours

The Texans, or the Bears. Just not us. We can’t afford that crap. Historically, we miss on these positions on the draft: QB, WR, DE

Agree. Allen did even less.

Stroud was the difference.
He knew what he wanted to do with the ball and his playmakers made plays.

This. No excuses here.

Put him on the DL and cut the losses of him being a stand up pass rusher.

I'm saying they would have gotten anything great from trading it. I'm sure they could have gotten a trade for something even it would have seemed really selling low on its face.

But if they really wanted Walker, trading down and getting any other pick would have been better to have another guy on the team, less pressure on Walker to live up to No. 1 pick status, and less cap space on his tab.

We all think they should have drafted Sauce, but I just don't think they ever were going to do so.

No, they were never going to because Baalke is a [BLEEP].

I wanted Sauce first, Hutch second.

Doesn't matter if he's out of position, at least you would be able to see a glimpse of something with his raw "athleticism" that he wow'ed our staff with during the combine. Clearly Baalke was fooled by the metrics.

Guy is not a pass-rusher whatsoever and has been a massive letdown.

Hesitate to call him an outright bust but he was clearly over drafted and Hutch should have been the pick. Baalke’s not the only guy to get all caught up in measurables though and ignore (lack of) actual production in college. If he signs a second contract in Jax, I’ll be mildly surprised.

Very true, there is way too much emphasis placed on the combine stats and I think that Travon's time with an all-time defense at Georgia might have obfuscated his true talent with all of the playmakers around him at the time. Thats what makes the draft challenging but taking a project at #1 overall is a massive reach.

I highly doubt he signs a second contract here in Jax with the way his career is going so far. He still has a little time to potentially reverse this sentiment about him this season, but I am just not seeing even a flash in the pan from him unfortunately... I hope he proves me wrong for our sake.

Should have done what everyone else said and just drafted Hutchinson. Just another draft day bust for the Jags.
