Still has work to do as a pass rusher but I see improvement. Let's see how it goes. Inside stunts are enough to get him matched against guards.

Yeah I would let this year play out.

If he was a 3rd round pick it would be a solid pick. All rumors were saying Khan wanted Hutch. Hopefully Khan brings this up in each meeting if true. Walker has been a major disappointment so far. He hasn't improved any from last year. None of the guys outside of Little has improved on the oline. The coaches aren't developing these players. They are staying stagnant

Anybody watching TJ Watt and Max Crosby terrorizing their opposing QB last night in the Steelers v Raiders matchup, can fully realize how ineffective Walker is.

Dude's in the 2nd year of a 5 year contract. He's good against the run. His pass rush is a work in progress. Of all the disastrous things going on with the Jaguars, Trevon Walker is not even in the top 10 of those things.

I also judge 1st round draft picks largely on their first five years.  That's when you have them under a rookie contract.  After that, maybe you get a slight hometown discount, but you are largely paying them their market value as a free agent.

No one forced the Jaguars to take a project at #1 overall.  I wanted Hutchinson as did many others.  Think of it as a 5 round boxing match.  Walker lost round 1.  It's early, but he's clearly losing round 2 so far.  He could still win the fight, but he's clearly behind and has given little indication that it will change.

Are we all just calling him Trevon now?

Totally disagree.  He was the #1 overall pick in the draft.  Those guys are expected to be difference makers. He is just an ok player who is flirting with bust territory.

Agreed, I'm not too worried about it...  Hutch would probably the easy call.  But his performance in the championship game made me wonder if it was the right call.  I don't mind taking a project at #1.  I mean, Hutch might be outplaying him right now, but I don't feel like it's by that much.

Matter of fact, Walker has more tackles than Hutch so far this year.  And Hutch only has 1 more sack...  And Trayvon would have had another sack if he wasn't held, which the refs called and pushed back KC 10 yards...

There's still plenty of time for him to develop.  But I really hope he does.  I noticed yesterday, on one of his pass rushes he didn't go out wide like he normally does, he cut back into the middle of the pocket on his rush.  That was a nice thing to see.  Course, he didn't get to the QB.  But it looks like maybe he's still putting his game together.

Like Luke Joekell?  LOL.

I mean, I get it.  You want the #1 overall pick to be a great player...  I totally agree with that.  But certain drafts don't have those type of caliber prospects.  Last 2022's draft was one of those drafts.  I mean in the first 10 picks, Sauce Gardner is the only one that really stands out.

I just mentioned to another poster, Hutch only has 1 more sack than Walker does this year.  And walker has more tackles so far.  So far the difference between the 2 is not that major.  And I think Travon has more potential...

We gonna just discount what Hutch did last year? I was on the Sauce train on draft day, but I would much rather have Hutch than Walker.

Why bring up the Joke?  Joekell was a total bust and reminds me a ton of Walker. People said the same thing about Joekell: He has the size, he has potential, blah blah blah.

I really do hope Walker turns into a great pass rusher. Hutch may not have the raw numbers much better than Walker but watch the games. Hutch is a force around the QB and gets many more pressures and hurries. Right now Walker has not shown he can live up to that #1 pick. I don't care if it's his fault or the Gm's fault for drafting him. Right now it is hard to argue it is looking like a bust pick.  When you pick the 1st overall player it is almost expected to make an almost immediate impact.  Walker has a few flashes now and then put far from proven he is going to be worth the pick.

Man do I hate to get on the overly used/abused "watch the football games" train, but Hutch is already a disruptor.  If an OC is occasionally dedicating a TE or RB chip to focus on #__, he's already doing more than his fair share.  I still don't think Hutch will ever be a top 3 DE, but he's already affecting the opposing offenses OL in his 2nd year.

Walker just got shut down by a bunch of backup rag tag offensive linemen.

I've held the position since before the draft that Hutch is someone that will get you 8-12 sacks every year. I don't think he will ever be an 18+ sack guy, but I also don't think he will have any below 8 sack years until the tail end of his career.

Walker was always a weird pick to me, because they were hoping that his physical traits would make him dominant in a position he never played. I always knew they weren't going to pick Sauce, but I wish they would have gone with the most NFL ready DE if they were set on pass rush.

I brought up Joke cuz that draft class reminds me very much of Walker's draft...  There wasn't like a real consensus #1 overall talent in that draft either.  Also the overall talent was pretty similar within the top 10 in terms of pre-draft grades.  So it was one of those things where it would come down to development over time as to which player would be the best.  Unlike other drafts, where there are clear talent.  Like the Lawrence draft.

I'll admit that I don't watch any of the Lions games...  of the 3 games I've seen Walker play this year, I thought he did a great job against the colts and he was a major disruptor against KC.  Last week was a bit dissappointing...  But overall, I'm still happy with what I see from Travon.  I mean, he's far from a bust.  Could be be better, absolutely.  All I'm saying is that the book on him isn't closed yet.  And I still think he could develop into a better player than Hutch.  He's got more potential.

Well considering he only tries to bullrush every freaking play I am not really surprised. It's like the guy is either not coached at all or he is freaking dumb as hell.

Before we throw him away I’d make him a “chaos”
Maker. Stand him up, line him up as a DT, 3 point stance along the line. I think he would be more effective being used that way.

It's probably both.

He's not the only lineman who isn't performing.
