Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

That third one I’d need to see several other QBs scatter plots for comparison.  I’d imagine
many look similar.  But agreed Trevor isn’t the problem.

Anyone has faith in Baalke building our OLine? Because I sure don't. If he does he'll just pick some busts.

Walker Little looks good and Harrison seems like he may turn out ( too early to know)
If Baalke ends up having drafted solid bookend tackles you can't exactly crucify him.

Fortner looks like a bust but he wasn't drafted early. Scherff has been a hot and cold signing according to degree of injury - so you could say Baalke's tendency to go after injury-prone players but him in the [BLEEP] there a bit.

I'd say Baalke's doing OK with the line in terms of what he's acquired, he just hasn't been willing to spend enough draft capital and should have acquired another IOL guy this past offseason to cover his [BLEEP] in case of Fortner not developing or Bartch sucking.

Just his luck - both of those things happened.

Agreed, but I would add that he is doing better now that he has Doug and his guys to help him. We will never know how well he listens cause Doug doesn't seem the type to leak crap like that.

I 100% believe he's getting (and accepting) lots of input from Pederson.

Makes it hard to assign blame to either of them if a pick goes badly though.

Who wanted which players more than the other guy? We will likely never know.

Fortner has been iffy, and Bartch is not a starter in the league. He has been god awful, like not even a respectable backup level. He has no business starting in the NFL. Dude gets pushed around like he's made of cardboard or something.

If we're saddling Baalke with Bartch does he get blamed for Henderson and Chaisson as well?

Oh, I was just referring to his level of play. Baalke as enough blame to take on his own (Passing on Hutch being the worst one so far). Bartch was a Caldwell pick? Hm, even more reason to want to dump him if he hasn't progressed through the last few seasons. If it were me, I would sit him. Dude has been tough to watch inside when you see the all-22.

We could blame him for not drafting or signing a replacement. Bartch wasn't exactly great before his injury either.

I am on the fence at the moment with Baalke. While it's true and evident as we can all see it, that, the offensive line and defensive line continue to struggle. We cannot overlook some of the other key selections he's made.

He had a very strong 2021 draft class. As far as how much that was on him Vs. Meyer? I don't know. However, he walked out of that class with Lawrence, Etienne, Campbell, Little, Cisco & Farrell. These are core players. Especially the first five. Farrell has been more involved this year than I can recall of previously as well.

2022 is a tough class to figure out. I don't know if it's his fault or maybe a breakdown in communication as far as the evaluation process went and where these players should have been started at as rookies. Walker, Lloyd & Muma on defense have had their up's and down's. I still feel they would be better off with Walker playing on the line, Lloyd shifting over to outside and starting Muma inside next to Oluokon.

Fortner is the biggest concern so far because he plays a direct role in keeping our franchise QB clean and upright. Something he's been below average at so far. Conner was a big waste in draft capital to trade up for. We could have added another lineman there or two potentially. Like Salyer out of Georgia. Big miss. Junior has potential still as a CB. Not sure where Brown is at.

That class, personally, I think that's the class that will do him in during the 2024 offseason if this team falls apart. And then this year's recent class. Outside of Harrison at RT, and out of 13 overall selections? Nobody else has really done anything yet. So, again, takes time, but, really, really "Meh" so far. Considering the other issues we have along the line at the moment.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. It's really hard for me to give him too much credit for the 2021 class.

Lawrence was a no-brainer, and I'm convinced that Etienne was a Meyer pick anyways because it fits the type of player he wanted (Toney). Little, Cisco, and Campbell were obvious picks that fell because of injuries and were just a gamble that paid off.

The OL needs to pull their heads out of their [BLEEP]

But Lawrence.... Yea he's Elite.

That throw to Ridley on 3rd down to set up etienne, literally a big time game winning throw.

Frick the fumbles those are on the line. Every QB gets fumble-itis when they’re hit from their blind spot.

Yet we still have clowns running around here pointing fingers at the QB

Unbelievable

Lawrence endured more punishment today than I've ever seen and yet he was still throwing dimes. The guy is physically tough.

This.

But when Lawrence has a bad game the trolls will be back.

I’ve been critical of Lawrence before. The guy played a phenomenal game today. It was disgusting watching Lawrence being pressured on almost every play then seeing Allen for the most part working with a consistently clean pocket.

That 3rd down throw to Ridley was pure elite. Big pressure moment, playing hurt and with a faulty Oline against the best D in the league.

Whenever I see a hot taie about Trevor, I will be posting that play in response.

He was fantastic today and put this team on his back and wouldn't let us lose this one. We are damn lucky to have him.

My only concern with Lawrence is his read progression. I imagine that will continue to improve, but he needs to work on that.

The o-line is hot garbage though and that needs to absolutely be the focus in the upcoming draft.
