Been commenting that his pressure rate was up over last year, looks like that is officially a trend now.

Might be nearing some sort of breakout.

I just don't see it on the field *shrug*.

Walker got a .5 sack today with RHH. Was also credited with 2 QB hits. He's getting there little by little.

Overall I thought he played well. In particular I had my eye on him on two plays.

He was able to read the play well enough to chase down a receiver short of the 1st down marker on those plays.

I still think if they played him inside more often and shortened his distance to the QB he would get more QB hits or sacks.

He did well collecting a few thousand followers of those generations and getting some twitter traction.

When that earned him press credentials and he started trying to be an analyst, [BLEEP] got weird. LOL
Wasn't aware of that. Must have been in a lull at the time. I have been posting on the old forum + this forum since 2005. I was 16 at the time.

My favorite post or argument I ever had on here was years ago with Alfie. He was arguing that defenses no longer when Championships or something to that effect.

I proceeded to throw the play off run of crazy defenses book at him with stats, box scores, etc. Was fun times. Still is fun. Just find it crazy that I am now 35 years old.

I have spent a good chunk of my life, half of it, on and off on here.

I was in my senior year of high school when the Jaguars were awarded the expansion team. I've been on here since around 2005, too, I think. I went by another name back then. Then I became the DogCatcher to pounce on TMD/TheMadDog. Wish he'd come back for comedic relief. Those were the good ol' days of FBT posting camp reports.

He's not a liability out there. He's an above average run stuffer and can push the pocket. To me, he's playing like a low first-round/high second-round pick. Maybe he'll be the new Alualu or Mercedes Lewis, where he never plays up to where he was picked but has a long solid career.

Yeah. Maybe a late bloomer just about ready to go off. I am excited man. I hope he gets it going soon.

He went from 44th in pressures to 34th in one week.  Hopefully he can continue to climb in the pressure rankings and this defense will continue to shine.  We do need Campbell back though

The defense is playing very well. Travon Walker is a starter on the defense. I think we all might be missing something if we just look at sack totals.

I keep my eye on him most of the time. He made a number of good plays by reading, reacting and chasing down the receiver a few times before they got too fast in the 2nd level or hit the 1st down marker.

Seeing his pressure rising up weekly is good progress. Only a matter of time before he starts converting those into sacks or forced fumbles.

Especially with Smoot and hopefully Hamilton getting into the mix soon.

There was a play on the 1st half where Walker was on the Edge.  He started his pass rush, then recognized that there was a misdirection screen coming his way.  He immediately stopped his rush, turned around and tackled the RB that was trying to get to the 2nd level.  It turned into a 6 yard pass play.  But it was a really nice example of Walker's recognition of how plays develop.

I still think he'd be great in the middle playing the B gap.  He's so strong and so fast, and he knows the game well.  He's smart.  He's just not an elite edge rusher.  But he's special against the run and can blow up Guards...

Travon has been playing well in both Run and Rush. Hope those Pressures can turn into Sacks, also he has had 4 or 5 Holding penalties which are almost like a sack, especially in the KC game he was Working Taylor over 3 straight plays at one point. but those don't show up on the stat sheet.

He doesn't have the hip flex and agility to be an elite Edge Rusher...  He just doesn't.  But that's what bothers me about the whole thing.  Move him to the inside and let him blow up the middle of the line.

Marcus Stroud and Big John Henderson, man.  Travon Walker is the spirit animal of those 2 baaaaaaad dudes.

Travon Walker weigh 40 pounds less than Stroud and 60 less than Henderson.

Forty [BLEEP] pounds. What are you even talking about?

Moving him inside on some passing down snaps is an idea that everyone under the sun (including our staff) has talked about since the moment he was drafted. We should do that more. Right now - they are effectively doing that by running stunts with him and RRH and now they'll probably do it with Smoot too. It's starting to work.

You're talking about altering him into something he most assuredly is not.

Hmmm... I didn't realize Stroud and Henderson were that much bigger.  But they remind me of Walker...

And you said it yourself, Walker does do more shifts into the middle after the snap.  That means they understand that he doesn't have the agility to play the Edge.  I notice you didn't mention that.  That's the point, the dude isn't going to be an elite Edge rusher, he doesn't have that agility.  But he does have strength.  He blows up Linemen.

I'm just saying there's a possibility that he can be special.  But it's not going to be on the Edge.

I think if he adds a spin move it gets real scary. I’m liking what I’m seeing this season so far. As pointed out above - the defense has been playing great. Josh Allen is finding lanes to make big plays. Travon is 5 games into his sophomore year and appears to be improving.

I keep hoping something will click, and suddenly he starts turning that athleticism into dominant performances. I also remember hoping the same with Derrick Harvey. I honestly believe Calais could have helped mentor him to maybe do that. Such a bummer we let him slip by us.

That's 9 pressures for Walker over the last 2 weeks. He had 8 pressures throughout the first 4 games.
