tackles and assists speak well for his willingness vs the run and longevity in then league but not much else

Nevertheless - he's played over his head in three games this year. The whole secondary has to some degree.
Love seeing it click and hope it keeps up.

What does his career PD’s speak as a current CB3?

Is it too early to place the G O A T status on Tre?

Tres ability was never questioned it was his speed on the outside as he doesn't have the speed to keep up with the Elite WRs. he is serviceable on the outside but very good in the Slot where is he playing right now. add in some pass rush and better corners in williams and campbell and he has found his home here in the Nickle.

Herndon has always had limitations in coverage due to his less than average speed for a cornerback/nickel. Despite that, he has to rank fairly high on the list of undrafted free agents signed by the Jaguars. Not many undrafted guys make it for 7 years in the NFL. Allen Hurns tops my list in this category since he was quite productive during his 4 seasons as a Jaguar while James Robinson had the best single season after he basically beat out Leonard Fournette for the starting RB position.

Best evidence ever to confirm that Ramsey was overrated and NOT a HOFer (except in his own mind and the media's). Thank you OP.

Agree on 7 years for an undrafted player.

9 more assists and Herndon will be ranked number 1 of every CB that ever played for the Jaguars. That’s will put him him 3rd all time in tackles for a CB in franchise history.

2 more PDs and it will rank him 4th all time in franchise history for a CB. Darious and Campbell will probably get there before Herndon.

So far - the Jags have only had one really good corner play a long career in Jax

Making team career benchmarks at that position aint [BLEEP] when you played 4 yrs longer than most of the good ones

You can say the same about Wide Receivers and Marcedes Lewis being 3rd on the all-time Jaguars receiving yards list. Or Smoot being on the all time sacks list. Or Engram on the franchise TE list. Or anybody on any list for the Jaguars. They don’t put footnotes on Jaguars History Books and Team records.

Dude was undrafted and is playing in his 7th season on one of the best takeaway defenses in Jaguars history and he’s about to be one of the best tackling CBs in team history along with the 4th most PD’z in team history at his position. The value is there and he is up there with Terry Cousin and AColvin as the best nickels in Jaguars History.

Herndon is top 5 in sacks, FF, FR, assists, combined tackles, and Passes Defended in Jaguars history for CBs. Herndon is 6th in solo tackles right now, but with 7 more solo tackles he will be 5th all time in solo tackles for a CB in Jaguars History.

Chop these top facts up however you won’t.

Herndon = Wingard. They are both decent guys. Not someone you build a franchise around, but valuable to serve as depth or occasional starts.

We had this same kerfuffle a few years back when everyone projected the sky's collapse because Wingard was on the field.

They're both good resources to have available in times of need. Neither one is going to be the one you rest your defense's hopes on, though. And that's perfectly fine.
