Nah wasn't it the walker pick that pushed him over the edge...

Wonder if he is happy as a bengals fan

It absolutely was walker. Maybe if we darft OL in the first round in two consecutive years he'll overlook the Walker pick.

Yea, your right it was Walker, but distinctly remember he was adamant not about picking Fortner.  If Walker pushed him over the edge then Fortner got him to the rim.

With a better lg, maybe it will help fortner play a little better.

I think walker is LG initially as they work in Cleveland.

We suddenly have the depth we kinda thought we'd have at the beginning of the season.

Train Little at C, he's smart. Would put our best 5 on the line

That would be a very tall center. Too bad Linder had to retire. He could have gone out on a great note.

I'm sure he'll be happy to be playing on grass instead of turf

As someone who watches a lot of Vikings games, this is somewhat along the lines of my take on Ezra Cleveland.  He's a very good athlete from a movement standpoint.  But he's not as well suited for power.  He matches up better against finesse Defenders.

Considering the Jaguars only gave up a 6th Round Pick for Cleveland, I think it's a good value trade for the Jaguars whether he ends up as a starter or is a primary backup at Guard.

Based on the pass rush knifing through our interior more than anywhere else it sounds like that's why they had their eyes on him. I think he'll start immediately at LG.

Then he'll fit right in on the Jags' interior O-line comprised of matadors and tap dancers.

Yeah - Pederson clearly wants athleticism to pull and move second level more than he wants road graders

And that is frustrating to a fan base that knows a legacy of smash mouth road graders breaking a gap open for backs like MJD and Fred to work their own magic at the second level.

We have to shift our expectations in that regard. He's not going to build a line with 4 or 5 of those guys in it.
We're gonna see creative ZBS stuff and lots of moving parts.

Which ultimately - I think will be fine once they find a more reliable Center and plug in a real starter at LG whether that is Little or Ezra.

This year - short term - We can be good enough by getting Little or Ezra at LG and having the other as depth for a run. Upgrading from Shatley/Bartch level play at an interior spot should make a tangible difference. Then at least your weak link Center has capable starters on either side to mitigate his errors a bit.

CAM, Little, (Blank), Ezra, Harrison.

And we figure out the center.  And you pay CAM and line up payments for Little and Harrison.  Ezra needs to sing for his supper over the season and a half.  The O-Line must keep our Franchise QB safe.  You don't go cheap on QB protection if you want you QB to make it past 2030.

We locked up good WRs, but Lawrence is so accurate that we could probably find WRs that Trevor will make look great.  Trevor throws balls right into dude's hands.  The important thing is to give him time.  Focus on the O-Line.

Trevor with about half to a full second more is the nightmare of most defensive coordinators.

Robinson/Little - Cleveland/Little - Shatley - Scherff/Little - Harrison/Little

Bench Fortner and make Little first man off the bench.

Little is better than any of those listed at those positions.

If Shatley is an upgrade at Center to Fortner - it's gonna be minimal. Very minimal in my personal opinion.
Which leads to me to give Fortner the snaps to see whether or not there is even a glimmer of hope that he improves.

I'm not optimistic in that regard, but... just where my head's at on Center for the short term.

I believe Doug's last presser should put that to rest. He is gonna be our center.  I am pretty sure the Jags don;t totally buy into PFF. Neither does Boselli.  He said as much on 1010 the other day.  His beef was not the way they ranked, it was whether the person reviewing the tape knew what they were watching. Whether they really knew what the player's assignment was.  Let's say he was very skeptical...

PFF has nothing to do with Fortner being the worst starting center Ive ever seen in teal.

So Either Little is riding the bench or the injury is worse than expected.

He can go to the PS is he clears. I'd expect to see him back just because I don't think he's 100% from the knee last year.

Yeah, basic personnel management. I'm surprised that #baalke actually did it right.
