You and flsprtgod have been hyper critical of picking ETN in the late 1st round.

I don't think it's out of bounds to point out that ETN is by far the better pick versus your sloppy love of CMC considering the fact that the 49ers gave up a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd, and two 4ths...  ETN and CMC are pretty much statistically similar.  But at least we only used a late 1st round pick, whereas SF used practically an entire draft class to get a 6 year RB!!!

Regarding the upcoming game... It's a game that pits the 49ers versus the Jaguars.  Personnel decisions should be in bounds when discussing the upcoming game on Sunday.  I don't think I'm doing anything that is "out of bounds" considering the talking point of this game within this thread.

I'm all in on this team this year and I'm loving the conference in the team but if we win it doesn't mean book SB tickets and if we lose we aren't suddenly a bad team.

The next 6 games are huge for us. They could be crucial in deciding playoff spots and tiebreakers and will be big tests for this teams learning curve and the pressure and expectations that come from being a top team.

The run starts Sunday against a very good Niners team and the first target remains winning the South again. I'm riding and dying with this team whatever happens the rest of the year and can't wait.

He was a high end talent that has multiple seasons where he couldn't make it through an entire season and did not have the ability to carry an offense to the playoffs...  That's the commodity CMC was.  CMC was traded to SF in the middle of his 6th season....  LOL.  The 6th season.  SF didn't make it to the SB last year.  SF is on a 3 game slide now...  But CMC is "different", as in he's super special??  LOL.  He's worthy of giving up an entire draft class???  LOL

It was a calculated risk. It paid off, yay for us. Same thing for the niners - it was a calculated risk, and it paid off. Do you think they were going to find a guy like CMC or ETN with any of those picks (or by combining them and moving around?) I don't. If they saw the window open, patience and development take a back seat to immediacy - get the guy you know who can come in, fit the system and take the offense to the next level.  It may bite you in the rear 3-4 years down the road, but if that was the final piece needed to hoist the Lombardi, why wouldn't you take that chance?

I think it's better to look at Najee Harris - same scenario - young QB, rebuilding team, is he making that team better? Not really. We got lucky that Etienne is who he is.

I don't think you can find anyone saying that. Saying CMC is tough to stop doesn't mean he would trade those picks for him. My biggest worry isn’t CMC as a rusher but as a receiver.

This. They're fully aware of our defense's ability against the run and our penchant for turnovers. I expect Shanahan will be looking to use McCaffrey in quick pass designs and various layers of misdirection to help keep the running game somewhat relevant. Kittle underneath, Aiyuk in jet sweeps, Samuel in bubble screens if he's healthy, etc. 

It'll be an interesting game but I expect them trying to avoid doing anything over the middle too much, especially against Lloyd, Oluokon and Cisco knowing that's exactly where Purdy has struggled the most in their three losses this year. He YOLO balls and lollipops passes over the middle very carelessly. 

So, probably looking at a lot of stuff funneling towards McCaffrey early and then we'll see a lot of double move stuff with guys running those 5, 10 yard outs but trying to jet down the sideline in a go route. It's imperative that our zone defense doesn't bite up on McCaffrey and that the backend trusts the front seven to get it done.

It is interesting. We're 2 - 2 with home field advantage and they're 2 - 2 on the road. I could understand the 3 point favorite if they were 4 - 0 on the road this year like we're but they're not. They have lost three in a row and that's with two of those losses being back to back on the road. 

Even with the bye week. It's still a west coast team travelling to the east coast.

They play a lot like Houston. I'm not worried about them running the ball, they will try to get it to CMC in space in the screen and pass game. Hopefully we don't see a repeat of the Houston game..
