Resign Hasty for Bigsby?

#1

We should resign JaMycal Hasty and either sit Tank Bigsby or put him on the practice squad until he overcomes his turnover problems.

Just bench Bigsby and give all the spell-back duty to D'ernest J.

It won't happen and maybe shouldn't happen at this point but Hasty was a solid contributor down the stretch last year, played meaningful downs and made meaningful plays against quality opponents.

I don't want to attack the rookie but since the start of the season Bigsby never showed me anything that proved he deserved to the the number 2 RB and not even RB3 if we included Hasty who was on the roster until last week.

I understand them trying to protect a 3rd round pick investment (a questionable one from the start but that's another discussion) but not if there are better and more reliable players available.
We don't have the luxury to do that right now.

We didn't have the luxury to draft him and it shows.

Oh I agree with that, I was well against that decision in April.
Just saying that at some point the coaching staff should take a decision too, Bigsby has been involved in 4 turnovers (2 INTs, 2 Fumbles) on like 4 targets and 20 carries.

It's frustrating, Johnson was moving the ball and then they subbed in Bigsby and the drive died.

While I am not giving up on Bigsby like a bunch of you. I would have preferred an IOL or DT taken with that pick.

Let's ease up a smidge, the guy's had a rough start. That isn't uncommon, especially as dysfunctional as the line is.

I'm not giving up on him, but I'd rather bring him along with snaps in garbage time or when we are cruising with a lead.

We have a better option available for all other game situations and it is time to utilize Johnson until Bigsby gets his head right.

The last fumble was sort of not on him so much (not really a fumble in my book) and both the tipped INTs have been in weird off script/busted play situations, but at this point I'd just look to eliminate the weakness until you feel confident it is not a weakness anymore.

Giving up on him could be prudent, but sometimes giving up too fast is called throwing the baby out with the bath water isn't it?

Yes, but Bigsby only ran for 2,903 yards (5.4 yards per carry) in college with 25 TDs whereas ETN ran for 4,952 (7.2 yards per carry) with 70 TDs.  Additionally, Bigsby had 448 yards receiving with 0 TDs whereas ETN had 1,155 yards receiving and 8 TDs.

ETN had his share of fumbles as you presented nicely in your referenced links but he's a proven talent.  Bigsby appears to be in the big crowd of "good" college RBs so he really can't afford the mistakes, given RBs of his caliber are pretty much a dime a dozen in the NFL.

Well, if we do it's important to note that we've used a 3rd, 5th, and 2 6th round draft picks trying to replace James Robinson. For that we got Snoop and Tank. Imagine if we'd just taken a couple guards with those picks.

Yes, ETN is better than Tank, I am not saying that.  Now since you brought it up....  ETN's numbers are for 4 years, Tank's 3,  Tank played behind one of the historically worst O-lines in the SEC on a team where alums were doing everything they could to burn the program down.  ETN, played in the ACC on a stable team behind a championship level O-line.

The Jags selected him in the 3rd round instead of the IDL or IOL I would have preferred so they have seen something. We need to let this play out. The normal for a rookie is what NYC4jags described above. Besides seems they didn't need Tank to botch plays the last few games to kill drives did they?

Can we even still sign a RB from another teams roster/PA, or has that boat sailed?

Oh im not giving up on him. Im one of the few that actually still thinks he will be a good back.  It just might be next year, some players just arent very good their rookie year.
