OL - 2023

"I just think they haven't played together for a length of time," Pederson said. "I think there's a lot of moving pieces there. OL [Anton Harrison] continues to improve each week, I said the other day that I thought he had one of his better performances against a really good front. Luke Fortner] and [[Brandon Scherff] are the staples there. [Cam Robinson] is Cam and that left guard spot has been a little bit of a revolving door right now. There's been some uneasiness there, but I think these guys, the more they play together, the more comfortable and confident they'll be in these next eight games."

It's real, but it's from training camp. They made the shirts because they were the 31st ranked OL in the league last season. It was suppose to serve as a reminder for this season that they stunk last year and to be better. Sad thing is they're just as bad, if not even worse this year LOL so the shirts still hold true.
Damnnnnnnnn. That's just sad. Frustrating and sad.

That's way too much credit, it's more like:

Those video clips are awful.  Linemen are just getting pushed back into Trevor like rag dolls.   I hope TL16 considers less money somewhere else if the OL doesn't get addressed in the off-season.  It's frustrating watching him deal with this and then see the luxuries Jalen Hurts gets every week with a great OL and outstanding WR's.

Mrs. Lawrence, is that you?

Just rub some honey on his knee, he'll be fine. We're not letting our generational QB go anywhere lady.

You disagree that it would be in his best interest to stay here if the OL doesn't get addressed?   Hopefully it will get addressed so he can pad his stats for those who are more impressed with that than W's.

Hard to imagine that OL supplementation won't be a mandate from the owner to the F.O. at this point.

It is that bad.

I think they'll invest in solving the problem in the offseason.

I am concerned that they actually don't see Fortner as a problem. Johnny O keeps reiterating that the Jaguars are high on Fortner and don't see him as the issue on the OL.

We just have to hope that Pederson and Rauscher privately feel different about him. I guess they feel Shatley wouldn't be much better, but the tape doesn't lie and they'd better make changes at the center position next season.

I've posted this a few times - but the OL talk is unfortunately a long saga of suck this year.

Fortner is a young guy they spent a pick on.
The only other option (Shatley) is a back up that has played almost exactly as poorly as him at LG this year.

They'd rather give the kid the chance to grow than yank him for a lateral move.

If that is the case - they are gonna pump him up, not roast him at pressers.
If we see the bad stuff, they do too. They just don't speak as freely about it at times for lots of reasons.

I mean Pederson called Fortner a staple on the line so I'm guessing he starts at center next year.

Nah

I'll be surprised if they don't draft Fortner's replacement or sign his replacement. Biadasz, Hennessy, Elflein & Glasgow are all free agents next year. These four guys should be on their radar if they're not extended with their current teams.

Sedrick Van Pran, Zach Frazier & Jackson Powers-Johnson need to also be on their scouting radar and on our draft board. Fortner is at least a "decent' back-up at Center for a 3rd RD investment, and, at the minimum, I think you let him get significant repetitions at right guard next summer with Scherff more than likely gone after 2024.

I really wanted Biadasz when he came out.  I thought he was a 2nd round talent that fell to the 4th.  It's crazy how many players we have let fall in the draft right passed us when BPA met need.  Kittle is just another example.  When AJ Brown and Metcalf fell.  You could have picked either.  The list is just too long.  Our draft board has sucked for many years.

Henderson over Wirfs.
Chaisson over Jefferson.

Those two players alone on offense could have potentially made Minshew look a little bit better than an average QB that plays above the X's and O's sometimes. Would we have landed Lawrence the following year? Probably not.

But, it's that close for a lot of teams in the NFL from being in the basement or on top of the mountain. It truly starts in the front office. It's just odd with Baalke. He seems to do well enough in targeting key additions via free agency but whiffs big time as a draft manager.

They need to add another role in that building if they decide to keep him in 2024 moving forward. Said it in another thread. They entertained the idea of hiring Rick Spielman at one point. They should reconsider it again. If he's interested of course.

Jags never seem to want to draft an explosive wr. However they do like line backers and back up tight ends.
