Most other NFL teams have good O-lines ....our FO, for some reason, seems unable to get this done.
What's it going to take to set a proper O-line to protect Trevor?
Because Jaguars is our mantra

It has to be a priority now going into the off season. I honestly think Lawrence can make an average cast of WR's look above average with an above average offensive line and running game. I legitimately believe he's that good of a talent. Baalke did everything backwards. Going into year four of his career and year three of Pederson's system with most of these guys coming back though, they need to figure it out and figure it out fast. There's no way you can walk out of free agency and the draft next year without picking up at least three premium players to start and compete immediately during training camp. LG - C - RG need to be on the list along with another viable swing OT/OG. IDL needs the same treatment on defense as well. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Didn’t give enough help to Trav In the off-season
Baalke approached the draft as if we were coming off a Super Bowl title and we only needed depth. Rounds 1-3 should’ve been a Center in there (12-20-2023, 06:10 PM)MojoKing Wrote: Didn’t give enough help to Trav In the off-season I like strange, but that was way too soon where he got drafted. Balkie needs to learn from what happened to luck and get serious.
Good news for once, I saw some IG posts about Harrison’s pass blocking at RT and it looks like Baalke may have gotten that one right

I honestly think he does. For three reasons: 1. You had a need at RT with Taylor departing for KC in the off season. 2. Robinson's contract situation making it difficult in 2024 to extend guys like Allen, Ridley and Lawrence. He was a cut candidate either way. 3. Little's situation, between not quite finding himself on the roster, combined with his injuries, made it necessary to replenish either position. I think, he could have done a better job adding to the offensive line in general, that much is evident in just the sheer amount of struggling we see from this group across the board on a weekly basis. I find it criminal though, that, he only addressed it twice with thirteen selections and he only did it on the opening night of the draft and the final day of the draft in round seven. That's concerning. It speaks volumes on his inability to read the personnel, properly evaluate the personnel and it's also probably an indictment on the coaching staff. I would imagine, or, hope, that Baalke and the coaching staff are working together, exchanging notes about this player or that player. I know that the draft board may not always fall the way you want it to fall, however, it's concerning that a good majority of this team felt comfortable and confident in their situations on both sides of the line of scrimmage in the trenches. I am not a big Baalke basher as well for that reason alone cited above. I don't think it's ALL on him. It's kind of like four obnoxious kids all egging on one kid to do something stupid, knowing full well the risks involved, like, throwing an M80 in a container filled with other fireworks or at a giant drum of gasoline. You're all guilty by association, and, you all knew better, but, because Baalke threw the M80? He gets the brunt of the criticism. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Taking Strange over Torrence and Bigsby over Jones is comical and shows how bad our bigboard is. A number of times an olinman is the top player available and they draft [BLEEP]. It's embarrassing one would think those players are better than the latter.

Especially when Johnson was signed and Hasty was extended in the off season. You already had three competent options at RB by that point. Also, when you drafted Bigsby in RD3? You just admitted that you wasted two picks the previous year to move up to select Conner at RB, which, again, shows how comical and/or confident they are in their ability to identify, select and develop lineman. You passed on a guy like Salyer, or, any variety of lineman that could have been starters here this year or developed in that timespan. Those were treated like luxury picks on a 9 - 8 team that didn't have the luxury to do that. You had to go down all the way to the wire in the final week of last season to win the division and get into the play-off's. You were lucky, nothing luxurious about that. You were lucky and you should have entered the off season knowing full well that your offensive line was ranked towards the bottom and you should have looked at how bad Kansas City go after us in the trenches in that play off loss on the road as an indicator where your problems were. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? This shows how important hitting on the draft is. Imagine having drafted Harrison, Torrence and Dawaand Jones.. The offensive line would have turned from a terrible liability to a strength. Baalke, as the G.M., has to take primary responsibility for those picks however you have to believe Pederson pushed to take Strange due to love of tight ends. Had LaPorta or Musgrave been on the board that would have been understandable, but they clearly panicked when the top tight ends started falling like flies. Strange was a huge reach in round 2 and one has to believe that they recognize that now.
