Only reason to do that is if you think you are stacked across the two deep. Engram wasn't extended when they drafted Strange, he was still on the tag. The Bigsby pick was and likely always will be a stupid pick. So was the Ventrell Miller pick in the 4th round. Another dumb pick. LaPorta is an outlier and not the norm as far as rookie TE production goes. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

If he was Kamara or another really good back and the best player available it would of been a good pick but he sucks. Ok, replace LaPorta with Gronk, Kelce, Kittle, Ertz etc. If he was a stud TE and the best player on the board it would of been a good pick but he sucks. The positions picked isn't the problem it's the players.(12-24-2023, 10:52 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote: If they were drafting for need they would of drafted oline and pass rush. We had Etienne and just extended Engram. You can draft blocking TEs in the mid to late rounds. They repeatedly said they are taking the top player on their board and not going to draft for need and it was clear. TE and RB was the least of our needs. It's the right strategy their board just sucks. If they came away with a Alvin Kamara and and a Sam LaPorta it would of been great picks. It's not the positions that's the problems it drafting players that suck If we went and drafted oline yet they picked bums, it would of been bad picks too. Just pick the good player, it's quite simple really. 4Head.
Question? How much blame is on Shad? Like personally I put him in the bottom tier of owners. He's doing good stuff for Jacksonville sure, but maybe he should let Tony oversee stuff I don't know I feel like if they fire Balke which they should they can't miss on gm again.
No Fun

I think he would with enough public pressure. He needs to go regardless. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Failure to solidify the OL and edge rusher killed this team.
1st and goal and this team is throwing it. Pathetic. When did Pederson lose this club?
Our team as a whole lacks top end talent. What players do we currently have that are top 10 at their position? Josh Allen, oluoken, engram, and arguments could be made for and against Lawrence and ETN. That's not enough top end players for how high we've been picking in the draft the last decade. The man must go.

You might think it was so hard but for one to think Strange was a better player than Torrence, I find that comical it was simple to see who was the better Player. All you had to do was watch both play.(12-24-2023, 11:15 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote: Yes he was on the tag and they knew a deal would get done. Bigsby was a stupid pick because he sucks. When you look at all the great teams around the league the all hit on and have great players from the mid to late rounds even. We have ZERO we drafted. From the football operations side of things, he has to be near the bottom of the list. In my book, he’s a good owner because he wants to keep the team in Jax. But the year he fired Meyer, he said something along the lines of not wanting to have to deal with replacing the GM too. That spoke volumes. I think Tony actually might be better to directly oversee the football side. At least he’d be more hands on.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Baalke drafted a guy because he “had some explosiveness in his body”
No way he actually said that but he did.
124 total scrimmage yards from your 2nd and 3rd draft round draft picks through 15 games is a horrific stat.

Wouldn't it have been nice to draft the tremendously exciting running back the raiders got, #35white in the 4th round.? Why can’t we ever draft speed? It’s unbelievable. Dude looks like a beast. I wasn't really ever in the fire Balke camp until he took Strange and Tank.. those moves really rubbed me the wrong way, there were some ballers available at those picks at positions we actually needed and honestly there were better TEs/RBs available if he absolutely had to go that route.

My only gripe with Baalke has been about positional value questions in his drafting.
I've pointed out 4 or 5 picks in he past two drafts (prior to the 5th round) that didn't make sense for our needs or the positional value among those needs. here are tow local beat writers saying the same thing https://twitter.com/_John_Shipley/status...40667?s=20

If these dudes were studs it would be good to great picks but he's drafting [BLEEP]. My biggest problem with him is drafting guys that suck. The Lions took a RB in the first, off the ball LB mid first, and a TE very high in the 2nd, both higher then where we took our RB and TE and they were great picks. Question is out on Campbell but if he turns into a stub it will be a great pick as well. If we had an average line? We're probably at 10 wins now. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
