Baalke press conference set for 1/25

Agreed, I felt if we didn't make the playoffs when we were 8-3 that people at the top should be fired. I feel the same way going into next year. If we go 10-7 and miss the playoffs some will say that's good enough and that we improved but I disagree. This year we took a step back and when you are a ascending team you don't take steps back

I think if they have to use the tag on Allen that is reason enough already to fire him. What is with our team not signing their top performers to second contracts? It sends a message to the fans and the players not a good one either. Next year they better be winning at least 1 playoff game.
No Fun

It depends, if Allen is asking to be the highest paid defender in NFL history would you do it? As much as I want to extend him I wouldn't do that.   There is always a limit on any player.  With that said we should make him the first 100 mil dollar player in Jags history.  4 yr 100 mil.  It would make him a top 5 paid edge defender

Bosa gets 34 per year
Give Allen 120-125 for 5 years that's fair

I agree that's 25 mill per if it's at 125 for 5 years, thats what I just said.  But what is he is asking for what Bosa gets?  You would extend him for 34 mil per year?

In the NFL the debate is almost always over guaranteed money.

Nobody knows for sure but it's possible Allen's agent has told our front office that they want Bosa money. Maybe that's why negotiations hasn't started yet. Hopefully not

Partially Correct.  It's possible Allen's agent wants Bosa guaranteed money, 122.5 mil and we are willing to give him TJ Watt guaranteed money at 80 mil

I'd go 4 year 100 mil with 81 mil guaranteed

You seem to think past money has any effect on current money other than to set the baseline minimum.

So you seem to think Allens contract will be 34 mil per year at minimum and a minumum of 122.5 guaranteed?

I think this is why negotiations occur.

That would be fair. He has not had the kind of consistent production Bosa has.

Are you sure about this? Did you look at a comparison?  They both came out 2019 in the same draft. So both have 5 years.
Allen played in 74 games, Bosa 68, so Allen had 6 more games. That can be actually a plus as he was available more.

Totals for 5 years
Tackles Bosa 209, Allen 259
Solo tackles Bosa 150, Allen 162
Assists Bosa 59, Allen 89
Sacks Bosa 53.5, Allen 45

Per game
Tackles Bosa 3.07, Allen 3.39
Solo tackles Bosa 2.21, Allen 2.19
Assists Bosa 0.87, Allen 1.2
Sacks Bosa 0.79, Allen 0.61

Actually, surprised me there was very little difference between them.  Both missed games in their second year. that was the year that swung the games  to +6 by Allen.  One also has to take into account on the Jags, other offenses did not have much other than Allen to worry about rushing the QB till Walker came on. Their camp has to be looking at this. The only thing really missing is pressures. I haven't yet found a reliable source for that. These came from ESPN.

I'm wanting to pay Allen and Trevor this off-season. I'd give him Bosa money. I'd give Trev Hertbertish money.

Sort the others out with small tweak.

The problem with all this Allan might want x is that Trent said there yet to start talks that’s the biggest issue in all this

I think that's where his team is going, as they should. That contract was also signed in 2023, that's ancient history at this point.

I disagree, i dont think thats where his team is going , hes not going to get that.  If so it would be a hard pass for me.  I wouldn't make Allen the highest paid defensive player ever, he hasn't been consistent enough.  We can tag him 2 straight years if he's asking for that or see how he does on the tag and negotiate next year.  After 2 years Walker will be up for an extension all while Trevor has the huge contract.

Yeah, you can do that if you want to keep your rep as a franchise that no one wants to deal with. Or you can pay the guy you drafted who's earned it.

And this is exactly why this team will continue to flirt with being basement dwellers.

Because we won't make Josh Allen the highest paid defensive player in NFL history?   Lol.  Us drafting like we have in the past is what will make us bottom dwellers.  It doesn't matter if we keep Allen or not if we continue to draft like we have in the past
