Our receiving corps success or failure will depend on TREVOR.  CJ Stroud threw the ball to a group of guys.  Jordan Love threw it to a bunch of guys. Mahomes...this season threw to Kelsey and a bunch of guys.  Whose Detroit's #1 receiver?

Trevor did better the year before with Christian, Zay, MARVIN JONES JR. and our tight end group.

I'd like to have Calvin...but his value shouldn't be more than 20 million per.

the "group of guys" Stroud threw to: Nico Collins (darft), Tank Dell (darft), Dalton Schultz (darft)
Love: Jayden Reed (darft), Romeo Doubs (darft), Dontayvion Wicks (darft)
Patty: Kelce (darft/re-signed), Rashee Rice (darft), Justin Watson (darft)
Loins: Amon-Ra St. Brown (how you don't know a 1500 yard receiver dude?, darft), Sam LaPorta (darft), Josh Reynolds (FA)

noticing a trend, yet? These "group of guys" are building teams through the darft. They are the next generation of Beckhams and Hopkinses that are going to be the names everyone knows in 5 years, if not already. The difference between these teams and us are we are spending like oil barons on WR/TE while these teams are doing it on the cheap, possibly excluding KC due to Kelce's deal.

Will it sustain? Time will have to tell. If these guys do become household names, or their QBs ride the wave of success to sign their own megadeals, will the QB/WR tandems stay intact? That's left to be decided. This is what gives me pause about paying yet another WR - we tie more cap into that room, and DL, OL, etc are left to build via darft on the cheap. Is one easier than the other to find production? Look at the list above and tell me what you think.

I agree with your sentiments. I want to draft and get big boys. Have to balance that with paying skill players. Skill players don’t matter as much when you cannot run for 1/2 yard reliably.

That is a very cool look at route running. If Ridley wants to be back for a reasonable price, then I’m fine with it. It’s just hard for me to believe In a huge contract  given his age and drop history. His drops turned several games. He just doesn’t make the tough catches like a true number 1. At the titan game , Hopkins was showing the hands of an elite player. We need someone like that, but younger, when the game is on the line. I would rather have a beast center in free agency and take a stab at WR in the draft personally. Everything is negotiable depending on the deal though.

I agree with this. Currently with or without Ridley we have all the toys, but cannot fully use them because of the offensive line.  On defense our LB's, CB's and safeties are quite fine. In fact our edge pass rushers are fine. We lack in the middle of the defensive line. Improve there and the rest will get magically better. Nature made a lot of small to medium fast and quick guys but only so many strong and quick big bodied guys.

It was a stupid rumor from literally the worst source in NFL circles - "walterfootball"

We used to post his summer time predicted depth charts for the Jags just to laugh at how horribly uninformed he was. He has also exhibited a clear hatred for the franchise for years and years. So stirring the pot from that guy is completely unreliable.

Ah shoot, it’s one of those things where I was going to share it but I assumed everyone had seen it already since it was pretty damming. Said not to take too much stock into what Baalke said because the Jags are fed up with Ridley. It was a report from the Senior Bowl. I’ll try to find it again.

I understand it from a cap perspective, tho to lose a 3rd round pick for nothing seems really stupid.

I don't think people understand that while he had his fair share of drops or "miscommunications" he came off a 2 year hiatus and still had 1,000 yards with a team that couldn't get the ball deep (whether you blame that or Trevor on the O line *it's both btw*) seems pretty stupid to let that walk.

If you're Ridley, what would it take as an offer from the Jags to make you sign being less than 6 weeks away from free agency?  For me, I'd have to feel pretty confident it was top of market type money to forgo free agency.  So, to avoid him going to free agency it would likely need to be top of market money and a bump from 3rd to 2nd.

Alternatively, from the Jags FO perspective, they know him best because they just had him for a year.  They know his work ethic, they know if/when he ran a wrong route, etc.  Other GMs aren't dealing with all of the info.  They're working with what he put on tape this past year and are aware of the circumstances that had him out of the NFL for 2 years.  How strong is the market really going to be for him? Would he actually get top tier type money?  I guess we'll find out.  

If I'm the FO here and I like what I saw from him off the field, work ethic etc, I tell him we'll make a strong offer come free agency and tell him we really want him here, but won't be tagging him due to Josh Allen.  If he gets a compelling offer elsewhere and takes it, I target a guy like Gabe Davis in free agency assuming he's available and look to the draft as well.  Nothing Ridley did this year compels me to give up the 2.
