Thomas.

Seems like people forget how many passes Ridley dropped, plus he probably wants A LOT of money and he is not worth it.

I still don't feel it's the end of the world if he goes to New England since they can keep Zay Jones, but obviously Ridley is the better player.
I think you hit the nail on the head.

I do think Baalke is good in free agency. The problem is that he is the opposite when it comes to drafting. He doesn't understand value, gets too infatuated with traits sometimes and loves drafting positions that are outdated.

So people have completely given up on signing an impact DT? How are we signing Ridley AND fixing the defensive interior? We spent the $$$ on Gabe?

Calvin is 30 years old.

I'd get it if he were 27.

Would prefer DT or EDGE there. As the value seems to be lining up perfectly there anyway. Between Byron Murphy, Jer'Zhan Newton, Laiatu Latu & Jared Verse. There's a good chance one of those four guys is there at seventeen and they would help solidify a stronger front four for this defense.

We need some type of presence on that front. Beyond Allen and Walker. It will be nice if Hamilton comes back in 2024 completely ready to go but you can never have too many good strong players on defense along the line. I think, since they've cut Fatukasi and they've been pretty mum in FA with DT's.

It might reveal how they see the board falling. I just don't expect Baalke to go offense in RD1 and I don't think he'll go CB at #17. He's found some really, really good secondary players outside of RD1 throughout his career. His tendency is going after the big, freaky athletes that can play standing up along the line of scrimmage or with their hands in the dirt.

Said it in the college forum. BUT, another guy to watch. Darius Robinson, out of Missouri. That's another freakish athlete Baalke covets. I could see him being a bit of a dark horse option or potential target after a trade down.

Someone relay this memo to Shad. I don't have his number...
  • Trent can handle free agency ("pro personnel director") -- he can keep his salary and corner window office.
  • Bring back Dave Caldwell to handle rounds 2-7 of the darft ("scouting director").
  • To save money in paying two co-GMs, the fan board here can create a consensus value board to follow in round 1. All round 1 trades up or down must be approved by our appointed representative who will sit in a large seat at the darft-day war room table. A couple darfts ago, the fans here would've darfted Wirfs and Jefferson. We also would've darfted Hutchinson over Walker. As a whole we're going to get it right more often than Caldwell and Baalke. We just can't afford to quit our day jobs to handle scouting the lower rounds.

There is still plenty of time in FA, they can extend Josh Allen and they have the draft.

Plenty of options still out there. They are building a roster to let them take the best player at 17.

Lots of discussion about Mac Jones vs CJ. A few stats for fuel. I was expecting a large difference in yard per attempt, but it just is not so. Seems to me Jones is at least a marginal upgrade that is 5 years younger.

CJ
age 30 - 32 games, 3-10 record.
60% completion, 3886 yards, 6.9 avg/pass, 19td, 14 int
QB rating 82.1

Mac Jones
age 25, 42 games, 18-24 record
66% completion, 8918 yards, 6.8 avg/pass, 46 td, 36 int
QB rating 85.1
A new broom always sweeps clean.

A+ without improving the interior of our defensive line and making a moderate improvement to our offensive line, which were the 2 biggest weakness of our team last year?   You're very generous with your grading system.

The first post in this thread is the Jags releasing Fotukasi.

We're relying on them drafting his replacement?

Draft.

Well..if they're planning to take DVondre Sweat with the 17th pick... I guess I'd roll the dice.  Other than that...

I'd rather just keep Zay (if he's healthy) and draft a WR.   We don't need Calvin Ridley if he's going to cost more than Davis.  imo

I like T'Vondre Sweat. Just not with the 17th pick. He's a NT. It's rare those guys go that early. I like his counterpart a little bit more in Byron Murphy. I am waiting to do a post FA mock draft, but, ideally, if they get Ridley back.

I would prefer Laiatu Latu or Jared Verse at EDGE with the 17th overall selection and with the 46th overall selection, would come down to Kris Jenkins or Ruke Orhorhoro at DT.

I think that combination would give us PLENTY to look forward to on defense immediately up front. Latu or Verse offer really, really good athletic ability and power to the edge of this defense, giving Allen and Walker a 3rd wheel to wreak havoc with. Dipping into RD2 and getting a guy like Jenkins or Orhorhoro would allow the inside to have more impact, more control and more disruption in general.

RD3 and beyond can go towards offense.

If we resign Ridley, Dline becomes the main priority. The lack of pass rush outside Josh and at times Walker really hurt us. I'm not looking for superstars but guys that can clog up running lanes and get O-line moving backwards have to be our aim.

It won't matter how many weapons and how good the O is if teams can just run it right up the gut over and over. Still plenty of time in FA and draft to find those guys.

Don’t forget that now they should trade him and draft Verse!

How much Verse could things get?

league year doesn't begin till Wednesday afternoon. Anything prior would sacrifice the twoth rounder I believe.

If the Jags lost a 2nd rounder I'd be pissed. Fortunately they're getting a 3rd rounder back from compensation.

Pick 17. Murphy or Newton should fall there. Rd 2 should have Sweat, Jenkins, or others. You could always trade back or trade up to fit any of those dudes depending how the other picks go.

I love Josh Norris and Hayden Winks.

They do incredible fantasy content all season long and Norris has been a big Lawrence/Ridley supporter for a few years now.

Ok so we’re keeping Ridley now?

Me thinks the unexpected increase in CAP has changed our FA perspective this time around

I think now all signs point to CB or DT in Rd 1 and WR in Rd 2

I really want Thomas Jr doh…
