Also, to make people feel better, his drops:

This does make me feel better. Thank you. It’s interesting how many important drops he had. The season might have been different if he caught those.

It happens. Unfortunately things didn't go our way. We could argue back and forth that it was or wasn't in our control. Had things gone differently or moved along much faster with Josh Allen's contract situation it would have allowed us to at least keep him here for one more year on the tag.

Wish the guy all the best. Just not when the tacks play us twice per year or beyond. Other than that? Can't be mad at a guy for cashing in his lottery ticket. At his age? There's no way I would turn down $50M guaranteed and potentially $90M over four years. That will undoubtedly be his last big contract in the NFL.

Onto the next one...

This is the proper attitude. Ridley would have most likely stayed here until the tacks waltzed through the door with a big bag of money. Ridley did what was best for him and made a decision we would have all made ourselves were we in his shoes.

Best of luck to Mr. Calvin Ridley (except when he plays against us). Now we move on.

I just don’t understand the big investment in a receiver when they don’t have a quarterback.

I don’t get it either, especially given his age. It’s not like he’ll be hanging around at the top of his game for a few years while they develop a QB.

This decision, coupled with the firing of Vrabel, indicates the tacks FO is not at the top of their game. I also hear rumblings that ownership is problematic.

Gabe and Zay are the same dude. Neither can actually separate.

The Jags need a pure route runner who can separate and win 1 on 1 matchups.

Oh wait… we said the same thing last off season before they traded for Ridley. Back to square one.

They have some time. Baalke will need to pivot. He could target a veteran in free agency still. There's also the draft with a deep WR class.

I still think this team is going defense with the 17th overall selection, however, I could see them either trying to trade up maybe or standing pat with the 46th overall selection and going WR there.

Troy Franklin is an underrated route runner. Xavier Leggett is well rounded. I also think we should get familiar with names like Jermaine Burton out of Alabama and Malik Washington out of Virginia.

Tennessee offered him lots of money. Did you expect the Jags to get into a bidding war?

I don’t think anyone is Suggesting they outbid titans , the issue is baalke expected Ridley back and at this point we don’t seem to have a back up plan, obviously that could change, but that would require getting very aggressive in the trade market which I don’t really see from baalke,

As cleatwood said we don’t have that guy now that defenses have to at least have a plan for, we have Kirk who can get space inside but when safety’s don’t have to help on the outside that space is going away fast for kirk

No.

What I expect is to have a competent GM who can draft correctly and manage a roster correctly so the Jags don’t need to get into a bidding war.

Tacks made an offer that the Jags shouldn’t have matched. That’s not my point. My point is that he hasn’t drafted a WR for Trevor since he’s been here and boat loads of good ones have come out. The Oline is old (outside of Anton), pass rush is a problem still and so is the secondary. Trevor will once again have to carry this franchise. And what’s worse, a true building block like Josh Allen might actually play on the tag.

Gabe Davis is a very good WR2 but he’s been playing with an elite route runner in Diggs. Now he’s got Zay on the other side? No defense is out there worried about Zay Jones and Gabe Davis.

Just look at the the Jags drafts the last few years.  What was the plan? To get more linebackers? Nailed it!

Since he’s horrible at drafting, he has to patch through FA (second time in 3 years). They have 3 plays who I consider true building blocks (Trevor, Travon, Anton). That’s really bad.

Next year, Trevor gets his big contract and then what? They can’t spend in FA like this and they have to rely on good drafting and savvy pickups. Neither one of those things are in Baalkes wheel house.

I understand your frustrations and have expressed my own dissatisfaction with Baalke, but we shouldn’t wait until after the draft before casting final judgement?

As of right now, we've given out contracts worth a combined $79,750,000 with $44,050,000 in guaranteed money to Gabe, Darby, Savage and Morse.  Ridley got $92M with $50M guaranteed by himself.  McManus also signed for $3.6M with Washington.  I'm sure we're not done in free agency, but we still have outgoing free agents yet to sign elsewhere including Chaisson, Agnew, Quarterman, Smoot, Herndon, Claybrooks, etc as well.  None will get mega deals, but will continue to chip in to the total dollars spent on our former players.  Point is, we may very well be in line for some sort of comp pick next year unless we decide to cut Cam and spend more big money in FA.

EDIT:  Forgot about Duvernay and had a missing 0 on Darby which affected the incoming guaranteed amount.  The corrected figures are that we've given up contracts totaling $88,250,000 with $54,700,000 guaranteed, so that is similar to what Ridley got by himself though slightly less on the guaranteed money for Ridley.  Whether we get a comp pick in 2025 or not may be determined by who else we bring in versus what that list of outgoing guys gets in contracts in the coming weeks.

Credit to him for gettin the bag while he still can. Credit to him for giving us the chance to match the offer without risking loss of a higher pick.

Have fun in QB limbo with a new HC tryna figger out how things work. I'm sure those fat paychecks will make miserable seasons less miserable.

based on his deal, we probably get a compy next year in return. Considering we got a 3rd this year for Taylor, I'd venture we'd likely get the same for Rid.
