In its first week, Donald Trump’s criminal trial is forcing the former president, a man who famously surrounds himself with sycophants, to sit quietly and listen to the unfiltered opinions of those typically kept at arm’s-length: People he might call his “haters.”

During jury selection, Trump has heard himself described by those under consideration as racist and sexist and a narcissist. He’s been presented with social media posts calling for officials to “lock him up.” He’s been told, to his face, that he’s “very selfish and self-serving.”

Some lies are more forgivable than others.

Lying about who won an election is just about the worst type of lie a public figure can utter.  Much worse than exaggerating the accomplishments of long deceased family members.

Biden has reduced mental faculties and should not be in office. Period. 

"Lying" because you literally don't know what you're saying is not better than lying because you're an arrogant prick.

I'm not talking about motives for lying.  
I'm talking about the importance of the subject of the lie.
If Biden's relative actually faced off with cannibals during the war, that doesn't change a single person's daily life today. 
If Trump actually won the election, our military today should be answering to him and ordinary citizens should protest until Biden steps down.
Trump and Biden may be equally motivated by arrogance or ignorance, but Trump's lie is about a much more important subject.

The childish Schadenfreude tone of this article aside, Trump’s behavior is hindering his defense. However, the last few paragraphs have me wondering if the urge to scuttle Trump isn’t setting this trial up for failure. 

… In perhaps the final indignity of the day, Trump was deprived of a fresh set of targets when prosecutors denied him and his lawyers the routine step of disclosing the first three witnesses they intend to call when they begin presenting their case, likely next week.

“Mr. Trump has been tweeting about the witnesses,” prosecutor Joshua Steinglass said. “We’re not telling him who the witnesses are.”

“I can’t fault them for that,” Merchan replied.

Though Trump attorney Todd Blanche offered to prevent Trump from posting on social media about the witnesses, Merchan told Blanche, “I don’t think you can make that representation.”

Blanche pressed further, asking that the witnesses’ names be disclosed only to attorneys, but Merchan again rebuffed him, saying: “I’m not going to order them to do it.”

Cool. That's honestly par for the course for the majority of our elected officials. He just tells you up front and to your face rather than presenting himself as a wolf in sheep's clothing with a little red or blue tie around it's neck.

Still doesn't change the fact that his four years in office were vastly superior than Joey Bag O' Donuts reign of incompetency. Enjoy the dog and pony show for now.

They dismissed a prospective juror because they helped the Clinton campaign.  That's what they're supposed to do.  That's not evidence that the trial is rigged.  It would be rigged if they did NOT dismiss those people.

There's a sickness that's taking over this country. These people are a cancer on this country, festering, seething and completely broken as human beings. Even though he was seen carrying a sign that was anti-Trump and anti-Biden that reportedly mentioned a “coup”, the media in front of the courthouse is lying trying to say the man who self immolated is a Trump supporter. 

He set himself on fire in the Trump section of the barricades in front of all of the media. 

@cnn lied and falsely reported that the man was an active shooter. 

Why did CNN lie?
