Intelligence is the higher moral position?

From strictly a humanitarian view, it's a deplorable moral position. From a contemporary real worldview, it is an essential moral position.

Eh, I retract my position. Kind of.

I think there is a solid argument to be made for intelligence gathering. Maybe we glean some insight through the tragedy. To that degree, I don't care to argue it. However, I just can't help but see this as a money grab as much as anything else. I just can't unsee how much we incentivize the military industrial complex to keep us in a state of constant war. So long as it's other people dying, we are content as Americans to enable perpetual war. For profit. It bothers me.

If I recall, the proper treatment of hypothermia, among other treatments, was a result of Nazi experimentation. The Japanese did gruesome experiments on captured bomber crews but I’m not sure what benefits were derived from those. I’ve read about it but it’s been a while and don’t recall the details. I do know each presented huge moral dilemmas after the war.

I'm just saying we villify the nazis, as we should, but everyone in the west forgets how truly horrific the Japanese were. Nazis hated the Jews the Japanese hated literally everyone

even the Nazis respected POWs (though less at the end of the war) whereas you were going to be tortured if caught by the Japanese and there was a 30% chance you were going to die. German POWs had about a 3% chance of dying and the majority of those were people escaping.

Hell that POW camp "the great escape" was based on had a concert hall and they were allowed to play instruments

It's a petty game of chicken. We have trillions of dollars that have gone missing which probably got washed out through the MIC.
