The "Can't miss, Generational Talent" label was on him long before his final season as a Tiger. He had some hefty expectations lobbed at him and people probably expected the second coming of Andrew Luck.Elevate the team around him? You don't think he's doing that? He's for sure elevated his team, in spurts. The true test was last year down the hardest stretch of their schedule when they had to play the 49ers at home, then the Ravens and Browns, or something like that. Too lazy and sorry to look up the schedule. He essentially faced the top three defenses in three consecutive weeks (probably technically faced the number one or number two best defense more than once with everything splitting hairs week to week). Nobody is denying he's good. I clearly stated that I believe in the kid. He's just a little wild and reckless with the football at times, hence, the "Sunshine Brett Favre" nickname I gave him last year or the year before. He's got an arm, man, it's obvious. He's got a gunslinger mentality. That too, is obvious. The turnovers are there though, it's lingered for the past few years. He reminds me a lot of a young Brett Favre when I was a kid growing up in the 90's. He's gritty, playing against the Saints with a knee brace with barely three days to prepare for it, and running his [BLEEP] off to boot in that one. He'll make throws that make you do a double take, he'll win more games than he'll lose, but, when we do lose games? Sometimes it's ugly and sometimes it's chiefly on him for doing things with the football that didn't make much sense. For example, the fumbling of the football with nobody around him against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Look, I LOVE THE KID. I really do. I BELIEVE IN THE KID. I really do. I just feel, if we're going to get over this "Barely over the .500 hump"? He has to eliminate just a little bit more of his mistakes. Not saying to change his game completely, nor crucify him or burn him at the stake for EVERY turnover he makes. It just means that if he cleans up this decision here, or speeds up this decision here, something I didn't bring up, situational awareness, leaving points on the field inside in the 10 yard line going into halftime situations, etc. That's what will elevate the team more. Being himself, while just eliminating his mistakes a little bit and making better decisions with the football. That all comes with time in the NFL and maturing. Which I have FULL CONFIDENCE, that, he will. Cheers. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. He was on a top 5 in the nfl trajectory before the injuries happened last year. If he can stay healthy and gets a little better protection he will be in the mvp conversation come the end of this season, I have no doubts.
Any stats on teams with offensive lines ranking near last in pass block and run block making it to the playoffs?
It sure doesn't seem very likely, but yet Trevor nearly willed this team to make it. Really hope what we have done with the line this year is enough to show decent line improvement, but I don't think its anywhere near where it needs to be in order to consistently make a playoff/superbowl run.

Not dropping TDs that hit the receiver in the hands, or not dragging that foot and ending up out of bounds on a dime throw. Not giving up multiple TDs to David [BLEEP] Njoku. Not being up 28-14 on the bengals and losing the lead. Not having 3rd and 1 and failing to convert 15 times in the second half of the season. It's dumb to focus on what Lawrence does wrong when everything he does right is in SPITE of the players around him. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Too lazy and sorry to look up the schedule. It's not dumb, it's analytics, it's also common sense. It's a team sport. That includes him as well. I also shared the clip this morning in this thread with the near missed TD's that were dropped. Again, I get all of that. It still circles back to ball security and overall attempts. Did Ridley deserve heat for his drops last year? Absolutely. Was Jones the same guy last year in 2023 that we saw from 2022? Absolutely not. The problem, is that, again, when you look at the overall production, the handling of the football, who is getting it more than anybody else? It's not rocket science. It's common sense. We'll sit there and destroy every aspect of this football team verbally and in writing while also ignoring other critical information. For every incompletion Lawrence threw? How many receivers did he miss that were wide open that could have kept the drive alive? For every attempt we would get mad at Pederson for going for it on 4th down? How many times did we shake our fists in anger for Lawrence trying to go rogue with his running game? Or not get the snap off in time? Or not make the right read and make the right throw? Look, this is the big boy league and the QB is considered the BMOC. He has to start carrying that aura and ability over more frequently on a week-to-week basis. And, once again, and I'll say it louder for the people in the back. I LIKE LAWRENCE! I BELIEVE IN LAWRENCE! HE WILL BE GREAT, IN MY OPINION, BEGINNING IN 2024. It just starts with him at the end of the day and it's going to end with him at the end of the day. Be better more times than not. Play mistake free football more times than not. Make better decisions when situational awareness is crucial more times than not. There's plenty of other games we can look at and pin the blame on this guy or that guy. My point is that, Lawrence had his fair share. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. If I made a list of things on this team that need improving, Trevor would be at the bottom of the list. I know he can get a lot better, but his improvement is far from our top priority this offseason. This team would improve immensely with better offensive and defensive line play. Those would be my top priorities this offseason.

We'll see if the front office did enough to make it a little easier on him moving forward. We all knew, well, most of us knew and were in agreement with the following around here. 1. Center was the weakest link on the team. Morse > Fortner. 2. Interior Pass Rush was lacking. Armstead added, Maason Smith drafted in RD2. 3. Secondary had concerns. Savage added. Darby added. Jones drafted in RD3. 4. Defense in general lacked consistency. Ryan Nielsen hired to hopefully remedy this. 5. Receiving room depleted last year due to injury. Lost Ridley, lost Jones. Gained Davis, gained Thomas Jr. The rest is up to hope. You're hoping the running game improves. You're hoping the turnovers go away. You're hoping the rest of the team overall plays better against tougher opponents. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? This team is going to the playoffs and beyond this year baby. You heard it here first.

At least someone in the national media is using their eyes. "All the proper adjustments..." remains to be seen though.

A new broom always sweeps clean.
As we've been saying for awhile now... Just give Trevor some damn time to throw.

Some of you are too quick to dismiss or overlook his injuries IMO. He was playing like arguably a top 5 QB for a consistent 16 game stretch and racking up wins until the injuries. There was not much to doubt Lawrence on until the OL failed him. Should give that the proper weight in a discussion about him as a player. Which has shown and proven to be elite on the field already

I see "elite" level as attainable for him if the revamped line does its job. Despite the OL putting him under duress too often - he can still make some smarter choices under pressure at times. The great ones do that. Time for him to follow suit.
This thread from a year ago. I looked at it to compare today's thoughts/predictions on Lawrence to the same a year ago. Nothing all that noteworthy, but I think the similarity is pretty interesting. Hopefully by this time next year the top 5 QB predictors from last year, will be correct in 2025 with the contract Lawrence is bound to get.

Or being facetious? I hope the Jags and another team in the division (most likely Houston at present) turn into a Steelers/Ravens type rivalry where both are good for a very long time and the match up is must see tv nationally. I realize that doesn’t just happen and that markets like Jacksonville would be a difficult sell nationally, but if the product on the field is good enough for a long enough period of time it will happen. I still say it boils down to which QB in this division outright elevates his play, keeps himself healthy and puts his team in more positions to win than lose. It's a literal arm's race in the AFC South. All four QB's have big arm and big play ability. All four QB's have a bit of a wild horse aspect to them that can make or break you. I think Stroud needs to be careful running around in the backfield. Levis has this tendency. Richardson has this tendency, plus, the confidence, perhaps, over confidence to run downfield with it. And lastly, Lawrence. He has to be more aware of his surroundings when things start breaking down around him. It's year four for him. I expect him to process things even faster now. His game this year will be won in the mind. Pre snap ability, moving pieces around, isolating the coverages to his advantage and simply taking the checkdown stuff when it's there. The way those two teams played off and on in the AFC North ultimately paved the way for three or four Superbowl wins, all of which happened during an era where the Patriots dominated nearly every play-off run for what felt like twenty years. Carving a few of those out on their own was impressive to watch. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Right after I posted my comment about the mental stuff, the pre snap stuff, it was exactly what I said about his game last year. I hope he shows that he's learned this more moving forward after three years of up and down games. He absolutely has to master that part of his game to take the next step forward. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
