Muma at least has seen live action in actual contests that mattered. He's had a few things to like and not like about him. I have seen him take some bad angles on one play, but, he'll recover the next play and break up a pass or disrupt an intended target in the passing game. Miller will have to cut his teeth on special team's this year. Maybe he'll clean a few clocks during the preseason kick off returns or make some good tackles, but, he's honestly a Shaq Quaterman replacement to me, he'll be a good role player, just not somebody I see outright taking over a series or two in the starting line up. Either way, the LB room is crowded with a lot of high investments. Somebody at some point is potential trade bait this year. Could very well be Muma if I am being fair. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Seen that Tank Bigsby is struggling. Jerrian Jones is impressing.
What's been said about Mac Jones? Positive? Negative? (06-28-2024, 01:02 PM)Jagulars Wrote: Seen that Tank Bigsby is struggling. Jerrian Jones is impressing. Ah man, another drafted RB outside of day one struggling under Baalke's watch? Say it ain't so! Ugh. Have to take in the bad with the little bit of good I guess with him. Not sure about Mac. I think he was picked off by Jones if I am not mistaken at some point. He also linked up pretty good down the middle with Engram but I don't think that was during an actual play being practiced, could have been just during warm up drills. He's not taking Trevor's job anytime soon though. Let's just say that. Haters can get on with that nonsense locally here. Mac's been a magnet for turnovers that are more akin to Bortles' mistakes in the past. Sure, Trevor has his career turnovers up there, but, Mac's have been touchdown worthy turnovers more than anybody I can recall seeing playing over the last few years. Especially in primetime. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Quote:Jaguars insider John Shipley was not impressed by RB Tank Bigsby this offseason. "Bigsby had some issues with drops during the summer and didn't have the standout offseason program that he had last year," Shipley wrote. So Pederson wants to give more touches to the RB who is already struggling in the OTAs. ![]()

No worries they don't usually play in shorts. What I want him to do is learn to pick up the blitz better. That is what kept him off the field much of last year.
A new broom always sweeps clean.
He may not be a 40/60 split guy, but if we can get a 25/75 split that's probably good enough with D'Ernest picking up another 10-15% to get ETN around 60%. It's not good for ETN to shoulder more than that another season and it's probably not good for the team down the stretch either.
This is Tank's 2nd year so he has the early part of this season to get it together, but he's gonna be out of time shortly after that as it shouldn't take a running back 2+ seasons to figure it out. Would be really nice if he surprises and turns into a guy that gets hot from time to time and carries the rock more than ETN for a few games a year. Not expecting the old glory days of having a dynamic 1-2 punch like we had for a few years with Taylor and Jones-Drew. But, I would be happy if we got a T.J Yeldon / Corey Grant type of production out of him, circa 2017. 500 - 700 yards in rushing/receiving, a few nice plays here and there. Hell, give me the first few weeks of 2022 when it was Robinson and Etienne running pretty effectively as a duo prior to the trade deal. We just need more than 132 yards out of him. That's for sure. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. What I want him to do is learn to pick up the blitz better. That is what kept him off the field much of last year. Originally, I felt the same way, then I noticed a few things. In his first actual year on the field, Etienne the 2021 first-round pick fumbled five times, second most in the NFL among running backs. Now I am not really trying to defend Tank, just looking at it as impartial as I can. So Tank fumbled twice in his first year. I must say they were both interesting. The first was during the third quarter of the Jaguars’ Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts, the pressure got to Trevor Lawrence and the ball was knocked out before that hand went forward. This errant pass went to Tank who picked up the ball. Then he assumed it was an incomplete. Buckner slaps the ball away and TD time. Now was it his fault? Surely it was. However we need to add an assist to the O-line on the pressure, TL for the first fumble/errant pass, and the REST of the team who standing around him also relaxed and let this happen. The second was on a rainy day in Pittsburgh when he was hit behind the line and held up while another player whacked at the ball quite a few times. (forward progress possibly could have been called) I am sure one of the offensive linemen would have helped him get down but it is hard to do after being run over and on your back. While the he two passes off his fingers for interceptions need to be corrected. What really kept him off the field in my opinion was picking up the blitz. Not unusual for first year players to struggle with this, but this year that needs to be behind him. Ps Balou is only as insightful as the last guy he talked to

I remember Etienne having some issues there his first year running with ball security. Got better in year two as a starter. Hopefully Bigsby has the same progression. Good point on the blitz pick-up's though. Especially with this offensive line's struggles last year. I think he'll be better in year two. I hope he has a monster game at least in the preseason to give us some hope. I think that's where my issues with him started as a rookie. Going back to the Miami preseason game where the offense was moving up and down the field it was Bigsby I believe that fumbled it going for the endzone. Really set the tone from there. You're right about the other issues. He just seemed to be a magnet for bad things to happen and he only touched the football 50 times on the ground and had maybe 5 or 6 pass attempts in his direction. I was already critical of him because of the draft investment made on him, which, again, to be fair, that's not on him. That's on Baalke. I was concerned with his amount of fumbles at Auburn in comparison to his career carries. He'll just have to figure it out in year two. It's amazing what Etienne was able to accomplish in spite of the amount of negative yardage this offensive line put the entire offense in with poor blocking up front. We'll see soon enough though with this base five they roll out in August. Can't believe it. We're just four weeks away finally from preseason action. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky.
