I do get him.  I've met people like Trump in real life. I've worked for people like Trump in real life. They have their good points. They can do business well. 

But if we're going to pick one of the 10 or so people in the entire world that get to launch nuclear missiles with a mere verbal command, we should be picking people who are much more precise and careful about the words they use! 

I mean you're right that Congress could pass a law saying that birthright citizenship only applies if one of the parents is legally present in the country, and then some immigrant rights organization would immediately sue, and then the law would immediately be put on hold, and then it would work its way up to the Supreme Court, and then we would see what they have to say a few years later. You're right that we could go through all of that. And it would be jarring to say the least to see the Supreme Court overturn literally 125 years of precedent on this question, but that's not what Trump is claiming he wants to do!

It's a fake thing that the Heritage foundation put out after they got a new head. The new guy is a RINO at best and most likely a liberal plant. People are resigning from them, so something is definitely happening behind the scenes. Some liberals may have actually partnered in creating it if the tweet I saw was correct.

Trump has published his 20 point plan but the liberals keep trying to say he is part of this other thing. The Heritage foundation has even said Trump wasn't involved.

I heard of Project 2025. Over a year ago. I read the stuff they put out.
A big part of it is the President will claim the right to fire a bunch of people who work for the government and either replace them with no one or replace them with loyalists.
The idea is Trump was stymied by "deep state" people not following his orders and he needs to be able to get around it next time.
This 100% goes with what Trump has been saying he will do.
There is already a whole class of careers that you can only get if you're willing to risk getting fired every four years, and then depend on independent wealth or private donations while you wait for the next election to hopefully give you your career back. Project 2025 wants to expand that category and Trump is very much on board.

The Supreme Court is the ultimate interpreter of the Constitution.  The 1st Amendment guarantees everyone (even Trump) the right to express his/her own opinions, not only of the document itself, but also of the perceived intent of the Founders.  Gun control and abortion rights are hotly debated on a daily basis and beliefs are often diametrically opposed.  Why not immigration?

Gun control is more similar because the constitution mentions it.  The supreme Court has ruled that there are some limits to your right to have guns.  It would be in bounds for a candidate to say they want to eliminate gun control laws. It would be in bounds for a candidate to say they want to pass new gun control laws through Congress and see if the courts uphold them.  But it would not be in bounds to say, "elect me and I'll take everyone's guns away" as if that power is vested in the President in the first place.  It's not.  See the difference?

I don't watch TV news, except maybe once a month my wife tunes into the 6:30 news on ABC.  None of us watch CNN, Fox, MSNBC, The View, any of it.  The ladies on The View might have intelligent conversation or it might all be gossip and mudslinging and nonsense.  I don't know because I don't watch.  

I read articles at many websites.  I'll try any website once.  They all make mistakes, but the good ones correct their mistakes.  I avoid opinion pieces.  I read and listen to speeches from certain politicians but without the commentary.  

Read Project 2025 for yourself.  A lot of it is about how the President can defeat the "deep state".  And most Trump speeches this year have included the line "we will demolish the deep state".  I'm not saying these guys are "in with Trump" but a lot of what they are saying is the same.

The country has many problems and Biden and the DNC have literally zero plan to solve any of them during a potential second term.  The infrastructure bill is mostly helpful but there's nothing of that scale likely to happen in a second Biden term or a Harris term either.

But Trump is intent on turning old problems into new, worse problems.  He will take the inflation we have today and drive it even higher while he tries to "fix" it.
