I know you stopped playing Madden years ago, so this one ain’t for you.

They did my boy Ross Matiscik wrong with that 28 ovr. He should have a nice hit stick tho, coming off his 2023 All-Pro/Pro Bowl season.

Here is the top 10 rated Jaguars:

1. Josh Hines-Allen 91
2. Foyesade Oluokun 89
3. Evan Engram 88
4. Travis Etienne 88
5. Brandon Scherrf 85 (I’m stunned)
6. Christian Kirk 85
7. Gabe Davis 84
8. Tyson Campbell 83
9. Arik Armstead 83
10. Mitch Morse 82

19.Lawrence - 76 ovr (bruh)

Madden has Lawrence as the 19th ranked QB. They had to make room for the Baker Mayfields and the Geno Smiths and the Kyler Murrays.

So, even casuals can get a job at EA Sports. Who knew?

It had to be the casuals bc some these ovr’s are way off. JHA too. Bro had 17.5 sacks and they hit him with the 91.

The only problem I have is with TL's ranking. IMO, it shouldn't tank that much year over year...regardless of the turnovers.

Anyway...I rate Trevor as 83 on my Madden 08 roster.

Josh at 91 fits. If he gets over 12 sacks again this season, he needs to go up.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

I agree with the Lawrence ranking. He is too inconsistent. Jaguar Fans on the board are blind and that is part of being a fan. Be honest with yourself. If Lawrence were on another team and you had to make an opinion on him. You would think what most logical people thing. He has the Tools but hasn't really put it all together. He looked Good the first half of last year but the Touchdown total and big play ability just wasn't there. I would rank him an 80 but their assessment is not far off. Madden Has been garbage for years and have not purchased one in many years. With that said they were pretty fair to Lawrence.

The staff at Madden weren't sure who Josh Hines-Allen is so they deducted some ranking. And OG-JAGFAN, yeah no Lawrence ranking is stupid low but whatever.

Usually a lot of these ratings will fluctuate and change throughout the season. If Lawrence gets off to an MVP like start the first two months and the team is undefeated? They'll patch him up to an 85+ quickly.

I haven't bought any Madden games since 2017 to be honest with you. The game is still flat, the franchise mode has rarely been touched or modified, the scouting and draft aspect of the game is still bland.

I just don't care for it anymore. I know 2K was coming back, however, it's at the mercy of the NFLPA rights being in the hands of EA exclusively, so, they're only able to create a game that is more arcade and simulation based instead of Franchise mode enabled, etc.

I think the last great Madden I ever played was Madden 2003 and Madden 2004. That was peak EA in my opinion. After that? Madden 16 and Madden 25th Anniversary were pretty good.

They don't put much effort in you are correct. It is a mail it in effort on large portions of the game. Looking forward to NCAA game overall just because it has been awhile.

Those ratings aren’t bad. Remember the ratings will change depending on how good or bad these players play during the actual season like was previously mentioned. The jags just need to go out and make it happen. Im buying ncaa and madden. Gators and jags for me on these games like always. By the way, don’t sleep on madden this year. Rumors are that it’s going to be much improved.

The last time I played Madden was 2013, and I only play the game for the franchise mode.  The great thing about 2013 is that there was a spreadsheet you could dig around and find that had all of the draftable players "development" grade (hehe, I just found a link to it in my browser favorites bar).  This was by far the most important rookie "stat" in the game, it was essentially a "Tom Brady finder" for all positions.

Basically you intentionally tank for 2-3 years by selling off your best players for draft picks, while creating a roster chock-full of potential All-Pros.  Once you start playing, your draftees players increase in rank by 10-15 each year.  By year 6 you have a full roster of high 90 players.  Win multiple Superbowls, then trade your older (29 and up) highest graded players for multiple draft picks to replenish your roster.

Is it cheating? Yes.  Is it fun? Yes.  I used to create teams that only ran, or only passed for the entire season. Smile

You should go back and play NFL Head Coach '09.  It's what you describe but with a lot more detail and offseason events.  You are the head coach but you also have real life position coaches and GMs that are skilled in different areas and you can fire them and hire new ones each offseason if it's not working out.  Ultimately, you're trying to unearth what a guy's true potential rating is during scouting and draft season by having a GM capable of evaluating some or all position groups well.  You are able to achieve full knowledge of a guy's potential if your GM is capable and if you spend enough time scouting him by picking which schools' pro days you're going to attend and by bringing in certain guys for visits.  You also go through free agency and bid on guys against other teams.  You don't have to structure the contract in detail, you just have a timer and teams drop out of negotiations as the price rises until the player is signed.  I was addicted to this game for a long time.  You also achieve points over the years that you can use to level up different skills for coaches and the GM for evaluation of players and specific position groups or play calling etc.

The game had its flaws when it came to actual on the field game play, but it was a great game that a lot of people apparently missed out on.  You only call plays and substitutions and can throw the challenge flag in game for instance, you don't control any players.  You can design new plays as well if you want or just pick an existing playbook on a particular offensive or defensive philosophy and just go.  A lot of times I would fast sim the games to get to the next offseason which was my favorite part.  You have to be careful about tanking too badly though, because you can be fired and then in the subsequent offseason there might be a short list of teams interested in hiring you.

They did away with the Head Coach series after '09 and that's what franchise mode became in Madden moving forward which I've never played (I played the early Madden games in the 90's when I was a kid), but heard it was a really watered down version.  Anyway, HIGHLY recommend for those who are big into the NFL offseason and draft.  I sold my copy with my old Xbox years ago, but wish I hadn't.  I wish it was available on PC.

That Coach game was buggy as heck. I remember how excited I was to displace JDR over the Jaguars.

Yeah I had to adjust settings to get the gameplay to be more realistic and even then something was always out of balance and overpowered, but the biggest draw for me was all the offseason stuff, the draft and roster building/management. The gameplay issues didn't affect the results/stats when I'd fast sim the games.  I think the default settings rendered trying to run the ball a worthless endeavor when you actually played the games out and then when you'd boost the running game settings, there was never really an equilibrium.  Something was always overpowered.  However, nothing I've played since then has come close to matching the offseason portion of the game.

I would routinely fire the Jags GM after year 1 and hope someone good was available as a replacement.  I'd also dump a lot of the bad salaries early, but you kinda had to do that over the course of 2 or 3 years.  If I did it all at once, the dead cap would be too high and the owner would fire me.  Good times.

I use to love the Franchise mode years ago.  They have stripped that and it is a shell of it's former self. In fact, Madden as a whole is a shell of it's former self.  Their main focus now is selling (MUT) cards where you spend actual money for virtual cards.  Insane to me but many buy it.  EA and Madden are complete garbage now

Campbell did not have a good year last year or the season before this.  He has the potential but injuries have slowed him down.

This is incorrect. 2022 he was one of the better corners in the league.
