Republican National Convention 2024

#1

RNC just kicked off not too long ago with Trump already receiving more than the 1,215 count to win.

This is going to be a historic convention based on unifying a collapsing country.

One of the best moves they made early on was finally ditching Ronna McDaniel.

Trump/Vance '24

Looking forward to The Vance/Harris debates too!!

I generally don't listen to or watch debates but this one would be entertaining. I don't know that it should be but.....who cares?

I don't know who this dude is as a politician but I watched the Netflix version of it and I thought it was pretty good. I may have to read the book now. I remember a lot of critics didn't like the book nor the movie but I don't remember why. I don't agree with most critics anyway so I'll probably like the book.

The book was widely praised.
The movie was thought to be an over-simplification of the book.

Just reading through some of his stuff and this is some bull crap.

In a 2021 speech to the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Vance blamed "the childless left" for America's woes. He praised conservative Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán for encouraging married couples to have children and said that parents should "have a bigger say in how democracy functions" than non-parents.

Being a parent isn't a prerequisite to being a productive member of society.

Yeah I don't know enough about him, but the pick doesn't do anything for me on hearing the news. It doesn't change anything for me either though.  I think RFK Jr would have been the exciting pick.  I'm not saying that's the right pick and I wasn't rooting for anyone in particular, but having a mixed ticket would have certainly been newsworthy.  Politics is a team sport though, so gotta play ball sometimes.

But it is to be a reproductive member of society.  Rolleyes Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

He's not my ideal pick. I would've preferred Tim Scott.

Some of those reproductive members really shouldn't be!  Big Grin

Idiocracy is for real, just not exactly how the movie foresaw it happening.

And probably why we're in the state we are with politics. Mixed ticket would be interesting and could actually work out but that would piss off the status quo purists.

Not sure he is wrong. There is a valid argument people with children have a different mentality about the future than people without. Seems your IRS believes this too. Producing tax payers is popular for a government with a spending problem.

Just because society needs kids doesn't mean people with kids suddenly know more about the future or how to run society.  Your mom always said having you didn't make her any smarter.

Maybe not know more, but on average, they likely care about the future more than childless parents whose last name will end with them. Not being cruel, just factual. I know a few myself who would admit to that theory.

Parents may see the future differently but that doesn't mean childless people don't care about what happens. We don't live in a vacuum. We have nieces, nephews, cousins, friends with kids, etc., whose futures matter to us.

As for what the government thinks of the matter, I couldn't care less.

I tend to agree with this, but I dont think we should legislate anything surrounding that belief. We still need to have a basic competency/knowledge quiz as part of the 'right' to vote tho, IMHO. Too many idiot voters out there, on both sides of the aisle.

Musk has seen the light. He's not overly conservative but he understands the government has to be dismantled or the future is dim.

I think we will see a huge rise in support for small federal government, more local and state power, where it moves to being fiscally conservative and leaving people alone on the social issues while protecting children.

Not to mention the biden admin has completely disrespected him and overlooked Tesla as the king of EV makers.

The Biden administration held a summit a couple of years ago with the manufacturers of electric cars. Guess who wasn’t invited? Insane.

Whichever one winds up being Vice-President will probably wind up being President.  There's a very good chance neither Trump nor Biden survive another 4 years as President.  I'm not talking about assassination; I'm talking about natural causes.  They are old.

Or, he wants to make a friend of Trump so he can keep the electric car subsidies going.

Oddly enough, I have read that most manufacturers are struggling with EV sales and going back to ICE R&D. They also likely know another 4 (hopefully) longer years of $2 gas is on the horizon as well once Trump turns those drills back on.

Tesla will continue to do well no mater what because they have figured out the hardest part; production.

Policy is everything and it seems Trump's and Vance's policies align nicely!!
