several people in an IT department are getting fireded over this one. Word is it was a systems update, and uh, those kinds of things should be tested to ensure the system doesn't go kerplunk once the patch is installed.

This is a whoopsie with multiples of commas involved. This is probably what a lot of folks expected to happen in late 1999.

It's been off and on for us. I couldn't get gas this morning with my card on the way home after the gym. 711's system was down. Our web portal for work was down for a little bit, it's still backlogged with updates. Other than that, just a little bit of lag with X and Instagram and some messages within the family group chat.

Timing of it is interesting. Just seems like we keep getting hit with "coincidence" after "coincidence".

We’re down to paper and pen calling parts stores for prices, they can’t bill us parts, had to pull out Mitchel books for labor times. It’s funny because the puppies that never worked manual back in the day are lost, I’m in my zone going old school lol

Apparently a security software update to Microsoft servers had one heckuva glitch in it.

Banks, hospitals, airports, and all kinds of businesses affected globally.

It's like what everyone thought was going to happen with Y2K on a smaller scale.

I'm flying in a few days and can't log on to Delta right now. Hope they sort this mess soon.

The security software by Crowdstrike.  CEO said it was one file in the update that is the issue. It is a reference file used in the AI process not coding. It only effects windows products.

So Crowdstrike, which is supposed to be preventing cyberattacks, carries out a massive cyberattack of its own. What times we live in.

I’m oblivious.  I’ve experienced zero issues.

While yes that should happen, everyone has given that up. IT doesn't have enough people, hardware, etc to manage all of that. Everyone has moved to the cloud and then they complain when the cloud isn't available, is being updated, etc. Most people don't understand the cons with cloud and they just see the sunk cost and yearly cost for maintenance versus the cloud costs.

Depending if IT was on the ball or not and has encryption keys to decrypt the drives, they wouldn't have been able to even boot the machine back up.

I know some serious discussions are going to be had about removing crowdstrike.

This wasn't Microsoft's issue but they did take down Azure & 365 briefly overnight.
