Finally got to watch Dune 2. It's based on the second half of the original Dune novel. I thought it was a great adaption although I'm in the minority in that I think I actually enjoyed the first movie a bit better. They made some changes in the movie that didn't seem altogether necessary but didn't really impact the gist. If it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm not really, I think it's a fantastic movie and will no doubt win awards. Dune 3 will be based on the second book of the series and I'm looking forward to it.

I also liked the first one better but definitely don't think the second one was bad by any means. Also looking forward to Part 3.

I'm still not sure what to say about it. What I can say is Zac Effron put some serious time in the gym and nutrition to get his body built up. Quite impressive.

My husband watched them too. Lol. He was telling me what he remembered about the different big matchups. He was confused about one of the brothers and IMDB says the movie combined brothers Mike and Chris. Probably to streamline the movie. 

It was a good movie but it was hard to understand how so much tragedy could happen in one family.

The surviving son, the one Efron portrayed, lives in Hawaii with his wife of 40+ years and their kids and grandkids. I saw an interview with him and he seems to be pretty level headed considering everything he's been through.

Last night the wife and I watched "Anatomy of a Murder," a 1959 film starring James Stewart. An army guy's wife tells him she has been raped, and the soldier goes and kills the guy who supposedly raped his wife. So the soldier is in jail charged with murder, and the lawyer played by James Stewart is hired to defend him.

It's a fantastic movie, one of the best I have ever seen. It's on Amazon Prime.

We saw two movies that I've had in my queue for a while. I was really looking forward to both but honestly couldn't get through either one.

The first was "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". For me, Tarantino films are love 'em or hate 'em (Pulp Fiction is one of the best movies evah) but this one I had to give up on after about 45 minutes. It's a mess and DiCaprio and Pitt have zero chemistry. The other one was "Oppenheimer". Chris Nolan is as up and down as Tarantino IMO, and while this one wasn't terrible, the....pacing.....was.....just....so.....slow. I gave up on it after about an hour. Also I guess I was disappointed that it was a written as a brooding character study. I was expecting something more along the lines of "Fat Man and Little Boy". Oh well.

Next up:

"One Love", a movie based on Bob Marley's life. I fully expect to enjoy that one. ;-)
"Asteroid City", Wes Anderson so I expect to enjoy that one as well.

Very familiar with the case. Tarantino isn’t exactly known for his historical accuracy that’s for sure although I’m typically ok with taking liberties with history for dramatic purposes. My main problem with the movie was the protagonists who I found boring. I also didn’t like the portrayal of Bruce Lee even though that episode is very loosely based on a true story. Or at least a reputedly true story. I might try gutting it out and finishing it as some movies do recover after a bad start.

I want to see Alien: Romulus when it comes out in theaters. The cast seems relatively new, or trying to breakout, so, that can go either way, but, I expect the horror aspect and creature animation and make-up to look good for sure.

I also liked the Prometheus series that Ridley Scott directed. He's supposed to have a third and final installment to that but it may be tied up in development hell. Thinking about taking my son to see the Transformer's Origin movie as well in September.
