CA fast food workers demanding another wage increase tp $20.70 hr
|
Ok so this is getting way out of hand. They just got raised to 16 hr four months ago. Evidently they have some sort of fast food workers union in CA now.
I mean i am old but in the late 80s my first job was $3.35 an hour at publix. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
They can pay them all the money they want, but sooner or later they won't have any place to spend it lololol

This is borderline a political discussion. With that being said, working at a fast food restaurant is supposed to be an entry level job for perhaps a high school student to get into the work force. The point was (back in my day) was to earn enough money to take a girl to a movie, perhaps buy a car (usually a junker) or maybe go to an arcade and have some fun. That's what I did as a kid a few decades ago. That kind of job was not and is not intended to be a job to earn a living on.
During my time working at a fast food restaurant (Burger King) I learned about processes, inventory and working with others as a team. Those basic skills and experience helped me later in life when I moved on to a "real" job. In my opinion a job at a fast food place should not pay more than $10.00 per hour max. It's not a hard job nor is it taxing. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
If you don't build more houses, rents increase at least as fast as wages.
Will Rogers was mostly wrong when he said, "Money trickles up. Give it to the people at the bottom and the people at the top will have it before night, anyhow. But it will at least have passed through the poor fellow's hands." But if you're talking about minimum wages and welfare benefits in areas with severe housing shortages, Rogers' quote becomes 100% accurate.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

This is an interesting topic as the Quarter Pounder with Cheese costs $14.49 in San Francisco (see menu link below - add $1 for Large). If I recall correctly from back in my Pittsburgh days growing up in the early 80's I think the Quarter Pounder cost about $2.99 https://postmates.com/store/mcdonalds-oc...1h9kfM6gzA Personally, I think min wage should be county specific because SF, LA, and SD are super expensive areas to live but what the heck, perhaps someday I can retire from my stressful job and flip burgers for $30/hour ...... who am I trying to kid, they'd fire me for eating the food. |
