The abuse of women in the Olympics and sports

Let's say a short person wants to play in the NBA and dunk. Are you going to lower the nets for them? Give them stairs on the court that only they can use?

You are trying to compare a weaker male and saying he should be able to compete against women. Unless you are creating new open competitions based on testosterone levels, it just doesn't matter.

Life isn't fair and some things you can't control. If you can't compete against men without any mutations, may you can qualify for the special Olympics.

I am only trying to tell you that your focus on chromosomes indicates you don't understand biology very well.  People with complete androgen insensitivity are women with XY chromosomes.  None of them are men. I don't care if or where they compete in sports.  But they are women.

No they are not women, they are intersex women, I guess you could just as easily call them intersex men too. It is quite ok they identify as women. However, it is not ok to compete against women that do not have the Y chromosome. Intersex women do have the Y, giving them an unfair advantage over women.  Below is the Wiki link since that seems to be your preferred source.  Everyone on the board understands this, no one is saying it is not that way, we are not dense. So there are Women - Intersex women&men -Men.   Now that we all understand this and agree there are people like this you don't need to tell us anymore right?

It still is not right for these humans to compete against men. It has not been right in the past and not correct in the future. They are manipulating the system for their own ends the East Germans did almost the same thing using drugs. People that do this are eventually caught. Every time in the past when they have tried once uncovered the accomplishments have been stripped (it was a big deal)  Have some of these humans tried to be cheat and were successful ? You do not know and neither do I.

You keep repeating this for some reason over and over. It gives me the impression you have a different agenda. Or you are showing off because you slept in a Holiday Inn last night.

If you want that to be the rule, fine, just understand that it would be a new rule.  Understand the chromosome and DNA testing is new.  Understand that some of our past women's champions, we don't know which ones, we will never know which ones, had Y chromosomes.  Changing the rules of the sport is fine but *you* are the one calling for the change.

Some girls in the past also married at age 12. Didn't make it right. It was child molestation then just as it is now.

This is abuse of women now just as it was in the past.

No it is not new rule. You have no proof of past champions having Y chromosomes so that is just a guess, nothing more. It is not a change to any rule, in the past when uncovered it was stopped. Science is just getting better at catching them is all. I am not the one wanting a change you are.

The rules have never mentioned Y chromosomes before, and they still don't.  You want that change, fine, but don't call for a change and then act like you're the one wanting things to stay the same.

Not for nothing, we don't know if these two boxers have y chromosomes or not. Do we? If they don't have y chromosomes, you would be fine with them continuing to compete?

I agree with that.  Progress is good.  It's good to see some of the aggressive conservatives around agree with me that this is progress and progress is usually good.

LOL, I am beginning to see you grasp at straws.  I am not sure in the past they knew what chromosomes were. Science has progressed since then but they still knew what was up.  You keep ignoring the link you provided that showed every time this was uncovered it was stopped, so it is not a new rule. They were allowed to compete if they either had an operation or took drugs to even the playing field.   Let's do this you keep believing what you want and I will too. Nothing you have said so far has convinced anyone on this board it was a fair fight. That is what the string is about. Have a nice day ...Wink

Odds are Mike is correct.  Since there was not DNA testing in the past chances are some physically endowed women did indeed possess the Y chromosome.  But that is in the past.  We now have the ability to test for that and moving forward standards need to be put into place to prevent this chromosomal advantage.  I stand for the right of women to compete against each other on a level playing field. In my opinion the IOC dropped the ball horrifically by allowing both of these boxers to compete against XX women.  My heart also goes out to both of them as well as they did not ask for this genetic oddity, unlike a Leah Thompson a man that clearly chose to compete against less physically gifted athletes.

I wonder if Mikesez is one of those democrats that can't define what a woman is.

A woman is any human who is adult, biologically female, or intersex and choosing to identify as a woman. A transgender woman, someone who is biologically male but choosing to identify as a woman, is a separate category.

Hey Mikey, remember when you said this was just about testosterone and not the XY chromosome?

As I understood at the time, the two boxers were temporarily banned for high testosterone.  There may or may not be more to it.  The IBA is opaque.  We do not know which chromosomes these boxers have.

What's your point?

The point is that you latch onto almost every leftist lie that's thrown your way, then fight like a dog to make your misinformation fit into an argument.

I could agree with you more if you started with the truth and stuck to it.

What leftist lie did I latch onto regarding these two boxers?

It must not have been me.  I said we have no idea what chromosomes the boxers have and I said I don't know how military ranks work.

So who's going around here claiming to be an expert on these things?

If I tell you you're not an expert, that doesn't mean I'm claiming to be an expert myself.
