The point that gatesjag dude just can't grasp is that Jones will be a free agent after this year. If the Jags want him they will have to either offer him starter money to be the back up or tag him (which Gates dude would of probably endorsed). Otherwise Mac Jones, as an unrestricted free agent, will be signing somewhere else where he likely will get good money to either be the starter outright or the second guy in a close camp battle for some team that needs a guy.

Trade him to the Vikings for a 4th RD pick and Dan Feeney OC/OG along with Henry Byrd OG. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Beathard is a FA as well and might go somewhere to be the starter. Its unlikely as well but anything could happen. People on here said Minshew isn't a starter so we shall see. There is definitely a chance. The most likely scenario though is some team pays a little more they we are willing to for him to be their backup being we can only have so much money tied up at the QB position with Trevor's extension.
Well, the first QB falls in Minnesota, J.J. McCarthy out for the season. That leaves them Sam Darnold. Boy, I hope Jones lights up the Buc's this weekend.

Suggesting CJB as a starter. strawman much? The difference between Mac and Darnold LAST YEAR was that one was a UFA and one wasn't. So one costs picks AND cash, the other just costs cash. If neither one is going to be the long-term solution, which would the savvy GM pursue? Next year, Mac will be a UFA and Darnold will likely be one as well. We'll see then if that changes the story. Darnold had more systemic experience, playing with mutliple teams in multiple roles. If the plan was to darft a rook and groom them into starting, Darnold's experience is certainly a greater asset than Mac's. Sometimes being able to throw a ball over them mountains isn't the only thing you're looking for in a QB. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Jones was caught in a terrible situation last year in New England, but he's a career 66% passers and has more TDs than INTs in two of his three seasons and 10 more TDs for his career. The guy is a 25 year old borderline starter who clearly got caught up in the whirlpool that is Foxboro post-GOAT. He's still talented and I would lay money that he's a starter somewhere next season. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Let’s hope some qb needy team will trade a decent guard for him…

Also, he had a defensive control freak head coach calling plays. Belicheat was really good at calling plays ... when he knew what the defense was doing. After that was stopped, not so much, was most likely Brady at the line. Actually Mac Jones would likely fit the Vikings system built for McCarthy pretty well. On another note the Bills just lost a good LB and we are LB rich this year.

edit: I missed the post from 149 earlier in the thread - but on that topic...
So - the vikes McCarthy tore his meniscus and the Mac Jones trade rumors are already swirling, LOL I think they'll ride with Darnold though. This will not be the only QB injury that piques interest in Jones. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Between Minshew and O'Connell. If they prefer Minshew over O'Connell they might look to flip the former 4th RD pick for maybe a 3rd. He wasn't too bad as a rookie last year. Went 5 - 5, had a decent TD to INT ratio. His 62% completion percentage is something he can approve on. Also, Ryan Tannehill is still out there I believe. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. God forbid, if Trev went down and CBJ came in and helped carry us to the playoffs CBJ would be getting a lot of attention on the open market and a team or 2. Very possible a team or 2 would be looking at him on the open market like the Raiders did this year with Minshew. You have no clue. Gms aren't as high on Mac as you and a few others on this board. What's comical is before he came here some of these same posters were talking about how bad is Mac is and that he sucks lol. Jones was my 2nd favorite QB in this class and I still think he has a chance to do some good things if a QB goes down. |
