Jags will need to sign another QB and should go ahead and cut CJ

I am not sure what value cutting CJ would be to us, so why on earth do that? Who would you sign at this point as a replacement that would not be available later on? Also since we will probably keep only 2 QB's on the 53 we would then have to have whoever we signed clear waivers. It would be easier (and cheaper) to wait and pick up a practice squad QB after cuts.

Watching Doug's interview we can assume Jones is our backup this year.  Doug has his #2 QB from the look on his face and is quite happy about it.  I would offer CJ an opportunity on our practice squad at the least if we decide to keep 2 QB's.  Jones just might be too good and expensive to keep as a #2 after this year. CJ missed the jail breaks at the beginning of a few plays back pedaling when he should have turned and run, which is correctable.  The shame is that after that series our line began to pick up what was going on a bit better.

We have to play our top two QBs this week. I would certainly want a third guy available; imagine if Mac gets hurt on his first drive, you ok with running TLaw back out there? I'm not. In fact, I'd get new third guy on the field ASAP to keep Jones in bubble wrap this week. I don't like that Lawrence will be playing but I understand it, I wouldn't risk both of our guys this week if I could help it.

And there's zero chance Mac Jones is here after this year, he's going to be at least competing for a starting job somewhere else in 2025.

I'm still hoping someone calls to offer a third rounder for Mac

CJ is old, he isn't correcting anything.

The Jags need a QB on the roster so they figure out if he can be the backup next year. Keeping CJ on the roster just hurts any chance for finding another backup. The Jags can sign CJ off the tractor if they need a quick option. CJ may even take an equipment manager roll or something once no one signs him.

You can't take that trade unless you have another QB option for backup. With 17 games, you have to have backups ready.

Only a 1st would make me think about it.

Well I think you're crazy Smile. You offer me a third for Mac I'll take it immediately.

The only team that could use Mac currently are the vikings. We already own their 2025 3rd and 4th pick in next year's draft where they selected Dallas Turner. They also gave up a 2025 second round pick to get McCathy. If those guys didn't have bad luck they would have no luck at all.

We missed the playoffs because we had to play an injured Trevor because we couldn't trust CJ to get it done. And you're ready to trade a competent backup for a third?

I'm sorry, but I'd rather make the playoffs.

I wouldn't worry. The look of Doug's face said it all last night.

Why is it than when we get good, promising young players that "fans" are so quick to want to trade them off for draft picks?  Jones is the perfect guy to sit behind Lawrence this season.  If (God forbid) Trevor should get hurt I would be confident that Mac Jones would be able to get the job done.

In my opinion, draft picks don't gain the team much.

Doug should copy his mentor Andy Reid in drafting young QBs often. Chiefs’ backup Oladokun can play.

Good rep from all 3 of the drafted DL rookies. Smith, Jefferson and Cole. Would like to see Smith get his head around and find the football though.

Trammell has to make the 53 at this point I think. He's shown up consistently with big plays over the other bubble guys.

BTJ
Kirk
Gabe
Duvernay
Parker
Trammell

Idk if we go 6 deep at WR though

I think they have to. Cooks was supposed to be the 6th but the hope and hype for me with him is gone. Trammell shows good route running, good hands and special team's value in the event somebody goes down and we need a returner in a pinch.

This a WR core that looks good to me on paper. With a ton of versatility. I see nothing wrong with keeping Washington, Trammell and Duvernay in a healthy rotation of returning kick's along with rotating in and out of the actual line-up as the 4th option or specific designs.

We're three deep at RB between Etienne, Bigsby & Johnson. I would keep 6 WR's over 4 RB's, (assuming they're still hopeful on Keilian Robinson out of Texas as a return specialist). I would hate to see Johnson cut in favor of Robinson personally. Trammell probably won't last long on our practice squad.

That last spot has been TIm Jones's to lose. Trammell is a better Teams guy than Cooks and he's looked much better on the field. I think the question is whether or not Trammell is as valuable as Jones, I think Cooks played himself off the roster last week. I'm concerned that we haven't seen much of anything from Duvernay, he was supposed to do what Parker has done and we haven't really seen it.

Duvernay had that nice TD catch against KC. I think he's going to be the main return guy but he's treated like a starter in that regard so they're giving the reps to Parker and Trammell. He's listed as the #1 PR/KR guy on the unofficial DC right now and I don't believe he played a snap against TB
