Agreed, I have a few friends that hail from China and Russia. They cannot fathom why Americans believe everything the news tell them. In their country they may watch it, but know full well it is propaganda.  I normally would at this point post a link to a video of a CNN group on air discussing how it is their job to tell the public what to believe about events.  It was a rather pointed conversation. Unfortunately when I went to post it today I get the 404 error meaning it has been scrubbed from the internet. Here is another one that is not as blatant.

You are stuck in the wrong mindset. Banks make ridiculous money. They don't need it anymore (obviously, I'm not talking about the mom and pops). You need to be looking more closely at how they are merging with the government than what they can make on interest from the people.

Always ask cui bono. Who benefits if the state of CA decides to subsidize mortgages?
No one except current homeowners.
The entire economy and government of the state of CA is controlled by and revolves around people who owned homes or other real estate when Prop 13 was adopted. They want to drive more money into real estate. Doesn't matter whose money it is.
