Who are you seeing from other team's cuts that you would consider taking a flyer on?
(even if it's a PS add)

Wouldn't the Jags be too low on the waiver priority list to get him?

I didn’t hear Baalkes presser, did he seem content with the roster or did he give indications he’s going to get some guys in waivers?

He and Pederson indicated they aren't done improving the 53

They rarely say anything meaningful in press conferences.  They like their 53 man roster but are always looking to make the roster better.

If I had to guess, I would lean towards them being content.  I don't think they make major changes.

OK looked at a few, stat wise on PFF. I know PFF is not the end all be all, but best I have as I really have no more ability info on these guys but this.  I also looked up the guys we kept for reference, it is below these guys

Possibilities
1. Trey Hill (Cinci backup center)  Appears he had a bad preseason ranked 417.  Total 43.9%, Run 42.6%, Pass 55.6%
2.  Marquis Hayes  - Ranked #139  Total 67.2%, Run 67.7%, Pass 70.5%
3. Bryan Hudson, - Ranked #168  Total 65.6%  Run 71.7%, Pass 55%
4. Max Scharping - Ranked #59  Total  75.8%  Run 69%, Pass 77%

A couple more
Eric Miller - Ranked #159  Total 662%  Run 62.4%  Pass 69.6%
Grant Miller - Ranked #231  Total 62.4%  Run 60.3%  Pass 64.8%

Our current guys (for reference)

Cam Ranked #164  (limited snaps)
Scherff Ranked #406  (limited snaps)
Morse Ranked # 45  (limited snaps)
Ezra Ranked #121  (limited snaps)
Harrison Ranked #80 (limited snaps)
Foster Ranked #253
Little Ranked #27
Van Lanen - ranked #1
Fortner Ranked #127
Hodges - Ranked #213

Our starters had 32-40 snap counts each.  Appears after last year having them all banged up before the season it was a priority to keep them healthy. Instead they focused on getting our backups maximum game reps. However Scherff did not have a good camp by these numbers.

There's a whopping 14 padded practices allowed over the 17 week season I believe. A lot of the issue with poor offensive line play across the NFL is due to lack of contact in my opinion.

Iron sharpens iron. They want these guys out there pillow fighting all week which gives us guys like pillow Fortner and they're making a [BLEEP] ton of more money now to boot.

I'd have some interest in Scharping due to his experience. Hudson is another possibility if looking for more of a developmental guy with upside.

He would be priority number one for me. Any potential upgrade over Fortner and/or successor to Morse would be awesome to pick-up right now. Wouldn't mind Scharping as well.

If Hudson makes it to 17, and we claim him, ship Fortner off to any team for a 7th RD pick and a ham sandwich. Good riddance my guy.

This right here. I moan about the quality of Oline ayers the league over for years and years. Yes you have some great ones but it's by far the lowest quality depth wise across all skill positions. One is that nearly every college team plays spread O's so Oline players come into the league with limited skill sets but the lack of contact practices is a big reason.

You can do Oklahoma drills and basic contact practices but it's nowhere near enough. The league is so focused on safety and protecting players, especially QB's yet the guys paid to protect them don't get the practice to be better.

Agreed. It's a shame they haven't come up with a different way to work these groups separately. Offer better insurance premiums to them, or, give them a little extra kickback money for having to workout more physically during the year. The NFLPA could work something out with the league if they wanted to.

If it's the concussion concerns, it looks like they're getting better with helmet protection. I know Jonathan Taylor was wearing that supportive cap over his helmet during the preseason. Give that support or newer technology to the offensive and defensive lineman group if it's a driving concern behind not practicing as much.

I agree, we are seeing so many changes within the league and trying new ways to make things safer and reduce injury but this feels like an area that isn't bring addressed. I agree the guardian caps look a good addition to try and limit concussions and I haven't heard players complaining about having to use them. Maybe teams could select like 7-8 oline players a day for additional work so you can rotate players and still give them days to recover. I know there were some players who died from the heat and other issues which made the league limit types of practice. Of course no one wants to see that but most teams have an indoor practice facility now which allows you to control those factors a bit more and maybe find a way that coaches are more relaxed with players needing to step out and players feeling like they can step out if they need and it won't affect their chances of getting on the roster.

It just feels an area the league and NFLPA need to start having some discussions about.

OK, from what I have heard we did not claim anyone off wavers. We signed 14 of our own guys to the PS. Each team gets 16 PS guys. So we are not quite finished we have 2 more shoes to drop.
