To which Loomer responded: "When is Lindsay coming out of the closet? We all know you're Gay, Lindsey.... And that's ok. It's ok. It's 2024. There's nothing wrong with Gay people."

This is what politics have become.  Instead of defending her position she went on a personal attack.  You're racist.  You're a homophobe.  You're gay.  What happened to civil political discourse?  I know how this started, with political correctness and we all know which side started this.  I had hoped the right would not stoop to using the same tactics, but here we are.

Do you make personal attacks?
If you see someone making a personal attack, even if it's someone you agree with against someone you disagree with, do you tell them, "hey back off not necessary" or not?

MTG started it. MTG called her racist for some statement. I don't know which statement it was but some statement about 9/11 that MTG cutoff in the middle to completely change the context. There was something else about curry. Loomer then responded with info she has on MTG. Most of it is verifiable and the other stuff is attributed to people and they have not denied it.

Graham opened his idiot mouth and got called out. She called him on being a RINO traitor. Then it escalated to her telling him he should stop lying. It's not like anything that was said wasn't known and probably thought by most republicans. The only reason he still has a seat is because he controls the state republicans and can cheat the primary so no one can replace him.

Liberals had been going after Loomer for the past week or so for some new reason. Trying to claim that she is having an affair with Trump and other things. Not sure what story she has they are worried about.

From my perspective, you are dipping, dodging, ducking and deflecting.

If your statement is that we need to have less personal attacks in politics, of course I agree with you! I am never the first person to personally attack anyone on this board.

The problem is, you don't agree with you.

Have you ever called anyone on this board out for making personal attacks? Have you ever once asked anyone on this board to lay off of anyone else?

Once personal attacks start, substantive discussion ends. So this place rarely has any substantiative discussion. I still find it entertaining, but if you want to complain about that, do something about it first!

A personal attack is a sign of defeat.  When people run out of intelligent things to say, they go to the insults and personal attacks.  Sometimes, it's out of frustration that they can't make a better argument.  And sometimes, they've just run out of things to say, and they can't let the other person "win."  And then there are some people who aren't intelligent enough to do anything but make a personal attack.  We know who those are.

From the Wall Street Journal:

https://www.wsj.com/opinion/donald-trump..._now_opn_1

Donald Trump likes to call his political opponents nuts, as in “crazy Nancy Pelosi,” so then why is he hanging with the 9/11 conspiracist Laura Loomer? Is he trying to lose the election?

..............

All of this would be ignorable, except that others close to Mr. Trump say he is listening to Ms. Loomer’s advice. People in the Trump campaign are trying to get her out of the former President’s entourage, to no avail. Even Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene thinks Ms. Loomer is damaging the former President’s election chances.

As North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis put it on Friday: “Laura Loomer is a crazy conspiracy theorist who regularly utters disgusting garbage intended to divide Republicans. A DNC plant couldn’t do a better job than she is doing to hurt President Trump’s chances of winning re-election. Enough.”

They’re asking because they know Mr. Trump’s association with Ms. Loomer feeds the concern among voters that Mr. Trump listens to crazy courtiers who flatter him and play to his vanity. Is this who the next four years are going to feature?

The problem here is deeper than Mr. Trump’s electoral prospects. A growing segment of the American right is populated by, and susceptible to, cranks and conspiracists. A movement that used to admire William F. Buckley Jr. and Thomas Sowell now elevates a pseudo-historian who blames Winston Churchill for World War II and media personalities who sell falsehoods as a triumph for free speech.

This isn’t an intellectual or political movement that is going to win converts, nor will it deserve them.
