Syria and Iraq are not combat zones.  It's a bit of a technicality, but neither are designated combat zones.  We also have two large military bases in Kuwait, and had troops in Gaza.  Gaza is not a designated combat zone.

There's no reason to laugh, because those soldiers are not in a warzone. If she had said combat zones, sure, wrong, but it would be pretty remarkable for the US to have zero troops in combat zones and no one sane would ever expect that to be the case or even say that ought to be the case.

Also, notice, this whole thing is 'nitpicking', Harris made a few misleading statements, while Trump has made numerous misleading claims and outrageous lies, yet it treats both candidates as if they are the same. Myself, included, I look different between my hair, facial hair, dark features, etc. I often get asked a wide variety of questions as to whether I am anything between a Spainard, an Arab, Mongolian or some type of Islander.
