You seem to remember BB's work outside the Brady years differently than I do.

He had four years without Brady. A 7 - 9 record with a washed up Cam Newton at QB, then a 10 - 7 record with a play-off appearance with a rookie QB in Mac Jones. 

Then they fell short in year two with Mac and went 8 - 9 due to bad QB play. Then it went off the rails his final year as they fell to 4 - 13 and a lot of cap spending caught up to them. 

Sounds a little similar to what happens to a lot of great coaches over time. Similar issues happened with Coughlin here in Jacksonville. Similar issues happened with Bill Cowher in Pittsburgh. 

Only time will tell if Kraft got it right by moving on after three years of hovering around .500 and making at least one play-off trip with a really bad down year post Tom Brady. 

This idea though, that, a significant drop off in overall wins and success goes out the window when your prized possession at the most premium position in all of sports leaves shouldn't shock anybody really. Look at any team. It's rare you get away with plugging and playing unless you had a chance to groom your QB's successor, something Bill tried, and was ultimately denied by his owner. 

Tomlin has been scrappy but not the same coach minus Ben Roethlisberger. You can say that for a lot of teams. Falcons are just now getting past the loss of Matt Ryan. The clots have been in QB hell since Manning's retirement and Luck's injuries forcing him to retire. 

Not every team gets lucky like the Packers. Or the Chargers. Some teams don't get to go from Favre to Rodgers to Love. Some teams don't get to go from Brees to Rivers to Herbert. [BLEEP] happens.

He was also 5-11 before Brady, along with a sub-.500 record in 5 years with the browns. He was also part of multiple scandals in his time there.

Okay. Again, I am saying to bring him into the building as a consultant. Not as the coach. Not as the general manager. You don't think there's any benefit of this at all? 

Not even on a defensive level or offensive line level? Considering his history with developing both of those aspects regardless of where he's been in the NFL?

Belichick is not the GOAT. He never was. Now Brady was/is a GOAT. Belichick faded once he was stopped videoing others teams and figuring out their signals. The use of helmet communication doomed him. Really, if you know what the other team is doing it makes it much easier to be a "wizard" in people's eyes. i don't trust Belichick as far as I can throw him, but that is just me. I do believe Brady could help our offense and maybe Vraebel our defense if you want to spend some bucks on consultants.

Two things that would concern me with Belicheck hire as our eventual head coach. ( Note I don’t think he would take a consulting position regardless he will want control of the whole Shabang.)

1. His coaching personnel decisions in the last two years post Tom Brady ( during the Brady years it didn’t really matter who was OC). I think his arrogance and loyalty when appointing Joe Judge and Matt Patricia as Co OC’s was perhaps the worst decision from a head coach to direct a young QB / offense I have seen in a long time. And we have seen some bad ones here in Jacksonville. I would very much worry about any type of offensive growth from our young QB under Bellichek as he will need all the help he can get.


2. He will want to be the GM as well like he was in NE I am almost sure. His player personnel decisions  those last few years drove that team into the ground and they are still void of talent on both sides of the ball.


I think he does a great job developing defensive game plans with various adjustments   and creating a football locker room that has a culture of accountability and toughness. So that is a big plus.

But I think he will succeed with a QB who is a bit more Developed than Trevor Unless he knocks the OC hire out of the park which he has not always done. 

And I don’t think he will want to relinquish the GM role.

The question shouldnt be about saving the season but saving the qb. He knows offensive and defensive lines. Sounds like the coach this team needs to me. Outside of the linebackers, the rest of the stuff is for nerds and dorks anyways.

I heard Tony had an epiphany when he got pile driven into the matt on AWE Dynamite that he should have an interview with the NFL reporters while wearing a stupid soft neck brace.

Yeah, he's the guy we should hang our hopes on.

I see this mentioned for the Dolphins too.. Why? Belichick was awful as a GM. Belichick, the coach's greatest enemy was Belichick, the GM. He had total control in NE and wasn't able to hire the right people.

On top of that, why would he take a temporary role advising the Jaguars? Supposedly, he did that before because of his friendship with Tony and suggested Marrone. Is that really a recommendation that fills you with confidence?

Out of our last few coaches Marrone definitely was my favorite, but I think we need someone like Ben Johnson someone that innovating on the offensive side of the ball.

Not since they began allowing radios in QB's helmets. Also, come draft day I could not stand him and his dog making choices for us.

The HC doesn't matter much. The Jags have to have a top OL coach/evaluator and top OC. Without those 2 things, the team won't win and Trevor will be mentally and/or physically destroyed.

That was 25 years ago. BB is not cut out for today’s NFL that emphasizes offense. Too rigid to deal with today’s players. Get a young coordinator and surround him with a seasoned staff.

But first, fire Baalke and hire a competent GM. And as someone else has suggested, Shad should bring in a consultant like Harris did with the Commanders to get this organization right before hiring said GM. There needs to be a President of Football Operations above them all so that this ownership is only involved in writing. Heck’s and the biggest moves.

Fix the O-Line!

I think another name that people have forgotten about for some reason that could do this team some good and maybe even Lawrence directly.

Bruce Arians. Bruce is a legitimate QB guru. Bruce could probably fix, correct or at least be in Lawrence's ear to help get him back on track. Bruce has gotten the best out of a lot of different QB's, no matter what their standing or starting point was in their careers. He's 100% worth the phone call.
