Lawrence has went for it on 4th down with terrible consequences. I watched Trevor play good outside those two overthrows. League sucks. Boring, weak, and barely watchable. They are coasting on the league history and it is a poor product. NIL is going to crap out the farm system the league has abused forever.

By house sweeping you mean firing Doug and his stooge, along with Baalke? I'm cool with that. But there's no reason to gut the roster. There are players here. This team, meaning the players, are good enough to win this division. Stroud is overhyped. I think we're just as good as the Texans in almost every position, when we're healthy. I think Trevor is better than Stroud. I really do. But we can't be great without good coaching. Re: #1: Belicheck isn't coming here to just be a VP. He wants to coach, and I don't want him to be the coach. I mentioned this in another thread to you, but look at the Commanders. They brought in a consultant group that found a good HC and OC to run the team. I think Shad Khan needs to look at that immediately. Fire Baalke now, and start looking for consultants to begin the Front Office and Coaching restructure. As for the rest of your points, I'm not in tuned enough to know whether those guys are worth it. I just want a real consultation staff outside of the "Tom Coughlin/Bill Belichick" line of thinking that have massive egos that will just bring in their own guys. Get a group of experts together and let it be a sort of Algonquin round table that honestly discusses things in an open enviornment where there isn't a clear "ego driven [BLEEP]" (coughlin/belichick) that controls the room. Shad should be able to do that. He should be tapping the Commanders' ownership group to see how they did things. It clearly is working for them. This idea that we bring in 1 guy that is gonna save us is total bull [BLEEP]. We need a committee. Working full time, analyzing the ineptitude at all levels to really get to the heart of how to fix things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWImZv05HuU
I think Doug is just going to resign. Dude is just completely defeated and deflated.
Whatever your opinion on or hopes for Lawrence, the contract he just signed says he isn't sitting and he isn't going anywhere for a few years, so the other issues on the roster are going to get addressed before his situation does by the coach or ownership. There are issues all over the roster and within the coaching staff, none of which by themselves necessarily put you in the conversation for worst team in the league as we are, but collectively they've done just that. Much of the issues are still fixable this year in my opinion. Some of it is lack of rapport which will resolve itself in time. Some of it is injury, which will resolve itself in time. Some of it is play calling which remains to be seen if it will resolve it self without significant change. There have been some excellent play calls from time to time, it's not all bad or by itself bad enough to explain all of our misfortunes this year. Lawrence is not playing well enough. He has some good throws, he has some bad throws which he should be allowed to throw from time to time as all QBs do, but some of his bad ones have been egregious and with so many other errors going on around him we can't afford any margin for error. Had we won today, I think people forget about the couple of overthrown TD opportunities pretty quickly. They stick out like a sore thumb in a loss though. The bottom line is we should be at least 2-2 right now and we've given 2 games away and probably gave the game against the browns away as well. Very deflating loss coming off an embarrassing loss on national TV. Need to come out swinging against the clots.

I keep thinking about Kurt Warner's quote from the last week or two about putting a QB in the right situation. Obviously Lawrence's first year was a huge setback to his development. By the end of year 2 it felt like he was starting to maximize his potential as he kept outdueling other big name QBs and was close to pulling off an upset at KC before Agnew fumbled inside the 10 yard line. And then for whatever reason he has regressed since then. I'm sure part of that lack of development is on him. But also feels like year 3 was another setback due to the awful oline and then the mounting injuries. And it's only continued to spiral. Expectations when he was drafted were probably beyond what his ability was but definitely feels like the franchise has done a terrible job of supporting and developing him. It's just a continuation of how piss poor this team has been over the last 15-20 years. Arguably the worst run franchise in the NFL during that time period.
The older I get and the more football I've watched, I think Warner is correct. Oesher likes to joke about "its always coaching..." but he's wrong. Lack of coaching can kill the development of players especially at the QB position. And honestly considering how the league is basically designed where the talent level of teams is basically equal aside from a few outliers, coaching is maybe the most important thing there is. Andy Reid took over a terrible Chiefs franchise and have 5 straight winning seasons BEFORE he got Mahomes. Mahomes just put them over the top from a perennial playoff team to a perennial super bowl contender. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Garrard may have been captain checkdown but he was consistent. He actually completed balls and never had a solid WR corps outside of Jimmy Smith for a very short time at the end of his career. Bortles never had a true number one receiver. Bortles had a career passer rating of 80 vs Lawrence current 84 and dropping real fast. Bortles did not have the arm Lawrence had but he got those ducks where they needed to go. Bortles had to suffer through Dave Caldwell's horrible reign of drafting and building a staff as well. If you put Bortles in his prime on this team I would bet it all that we would be a much better team. Bortles by no means was a good NFL QB but IMO better than we have seen from Lawrence. Just listen to the talking heads tomorrow dawg out lawrence again and it will keep getting louder. Signing that contract may have been the biggest mistake in franchise history. That is saying a ton considering our past. (09-29-2024, 10:40 PM)flsprtsgod Wrote:He would be overthrowing jimmy Smith(09-29-2024, 10:22 PM)SamusAranX Wrote: Bahahaha. |
