Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)
|
He had bad throws and some poor decision-making in the game. No one is denying that. He played better after those shotty overthrows.
The killer of this game that pretty much cost them was the 1 yard line. They had 4 tries. Could not get into the endzone. The Jaguars have a history of this nonsense. 1 yard. That would have sealed the win. But, they couldn't get one damn yard. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Dude, at the end of the day, Lawrence has to be better. That's the bottom line. I totally get it. He's being paid like a franchise QB. He needs to be good for 60 minutes. He hasn't given us a full 60 minutes since god knows when. I'm not saying you're wrong that Lawrence is looking bad. I'm just saying I have faith that there's a chance he can live up to the hype... It's just not going to be this year, apparently... It just sucks that it looks like this is the end of any chance of a playoff run. I just look at teams with these young HC's/OC's that are QB focused seem to get the best out of their offenses. And our team is stuck in the mud. It's been frustrating to watch for 2 seasons now.
Let's not forget the refs spotted the tinhorns 4 points which was their margin of victory. lol, this team and the refs spotting the opposition points is just... you just have to laugh to keep your sanity. Same thing happened against the browns.

Speaking of the 1 yard line shenanigans, I believe it was the 3rd down play where Trevor had a read-option play and still handed off the ball, even when the edge rusher crashed down heavily, which otherwise would have been a walk-in touchdown. That one falls on him as well for making a poor read and not pulling that ball and waltzing into the endzone.

We'll never know, but there's a possibility that the coaches told him that he had to hand off the ball. The RPO was just a "redirect". The reason I say this is because Lawrence NEVER keeps the ball on these RPO plays. At least not since 2022. Edit: I said he never keeps the ball on the RPOs. I'm sure there are a couple times he has. But, from my memory, the vast majority of the time, he gives the ball to the rusher. It's unfortunate that our organization around him is in disarray, which does Trevor no favors, but I thought his talent could be able to mask some of the deficiencies present around him. This loss really hurts because it was against a division foe and it happened to be a game that was actually winnable for 99% of the game. Could have put us back in the race, but now things are statistically looking incredibly bleak for our playoff hopes. Here's to hoping we can muster up a win against the clots next week in our throwback jerseys.
The defense made a stop up 3 to give it back to our offense with less than 5 minutes left and we get a 3 and out lol

I’m just pretty numb to the refs tbh, tinhorns did everything they could to gift us this win and instead we got our 10th straight loss. Over a year since a win. I can absolutely believe that because it really seems like he is handing off the ball a lot more frequently than pulling the ball and rushing himself. But that was such an easy read, with a good 20 yards of lateral availability, that I wish he would make that executive decision himself as the play transpires. I'd like to know how much this coaching staff "pulls in" Trevor versus it being on him - and I doubt we'll ever be privy to that info unless we were either TLaw or Pederson.

Based on Trevor’s visual displeasure with Doug now in two games, I am gonna say it’s Pederson We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I don't need to see an even penalty distribution. Sure, when you see an uneven one it does make you look a little more closely to see if there were some bias or whatever, but some teams commit more fouls than others and the game should be called accordingly by the refs. They showed the replay on pretty much every tinhorn infraction and it was pretty clear it should have been called. I don't recall the refs contributing to any of our points with questionable calls. That was a horrible defensive holding call that wiped away a 3rd and long incompletion and instead gave the tinhorns 1st and goal. It's not a stretch to say the refs contributed to significantly to that extra 4 points there and they won by 4. The tinhorns are/were sloppy today, but that's one instance where they got bailed out and it directly led to the additional 4 points. The browns got a very questionable roughing call on their first and only TD drive against us that also wiped away a 3rd and long incompletion. Both were already in FG range and should have resulted in FG tries instead of 1st and goals. None of this exonerates anyone's poor play today. We've just had some very bad luck to go along with the poor execution. (09-29-2024, 09:56 PM)TDOSS Wrote:(09-29-2024, 08:41 PM)carp8dm Wrote: Feeling's mutual bud. On the flipside, what do you thinks the odds are that Jags OTs held Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson to 0 sacks without holding? (Luckily they weren't wearing red gloves.)
