Some sleeper prospects I like for the Jags to consider are: 

 

CB Pierre Desir, 6' 1", 200, .....seems to have a nose for the football, as he has totaled something close to 20 INT's for his college career. Would give our secondary something it lacks. Projected to go in round 3. 

 

 

DE Larry Webster, 6' 6", 261, 4.58, from Bloomsburg U, late round DE prospect with great size for the position as well as good timed speed. IIRC, once recorded 19 QB sacks in a season. Projected to go in round 5-6. 

 

FS Deone Buchanon, Washington St, 6' 1", 211, again, a player with a good nose for the football. Would give this secondary something it lacks. Projected to go in round 4. 

 

WR Jeff Jaris, Saginaw Valley State, 6'2", 219, 4.42, uber productive WR with good size. projected to go in round 6. 

 

WR Montavis Bryant, Clemson, 6' 4", 211, 4.4, very high YPC type, but needs some polish....would be a good add for coach Sullivan to work with. Projected to go in round 4. 

Can almost guarentee Desir goes in the late first to 2nd round range. Very good prospect.

 

If you want another WR with good mesurables, check out L'Damian Washinton out of Missouri. Late round prospect, needs to add abit of bulk to his frame. Legit 4.4 speed, needs to polish off his route running to effectively beat NFL DB's.

I like the two highlighted, especially Webster. He's got good size, burst and put up good numbers against lower competition. One thing with him is you probably aren't getting much out of him the first year because he needs to add bulk to his frame to play in the NFL.

 

Two defensive tackles I like are Ryan Carrethers from Arkansas State and Justin Ellis from La Tech. They are both potential nose tackles and should be there on the third day when we have 8 picks.

 

One other guy is BC linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis. I think he would be a great fit here in Bradley's D. He's a little short at 6'0 but is over 230 and is a great athlete. He graded the best in this LB class at nearly every drill at the combine. And it seemed like every time I watched BC, he stood out.

He's same height & weight as Rashean. THe Jags drafted Rashean in the 2nd round back then, too, so maybe they could sort of repeat history by taking Desir at 37. Desir surely would provide them with a playmaker in that secondary.

I would be surprised. I think they like what they have with Gratz, Ball, Blackmon and McCray. I would not ruling out taking one later if the value is there. I am thinking the first four or five picks will be some combination of QB, WR, interior line, pass rusher and WLB.

well, thats essentially what you are saying in not so many words by advocating passing on a great playmaking prospect like Desir just to address other area.

Disagree. Desir is being way undervalued, just like Rashean was back in 2003....hence its an opportunity to get a game changer at a bargain price. Rashean based off of what he did in the NFL - which was exactly what he showed in college too, essentially should have been a top 10 pick - ...that we got at 39. 

 

BallHawks of that level are not available at discounts every  year. Maybe every so often. 

 

I guess I see things differently than you. I see ham & eggers like Gratz way overdrafted per what he gives you and gave in college, too, and you see players like Desir as a dime a dozen....no those aren't your words either, but its what you infer/ insinuate.

Desir is a nice prospect but is still pretty raw. Mathis was a better prospect. He played at a higher level than Desir and was the Div 1-AA Defensive Player of the Year. I would say Mathis was also faster.

I don't consider players that actually execute big plays as "raw". Desir totaled 25 INT his college career. Every single season he consistently proved to haul in a decent number of INT or better. 

 

When I hear the term "raw" used on a player, I think of a player that may have the "measurables"/ "timed speed"/ athleticism etc etc.... but that never really translated to on-field uber-production yet. Such as Logan Thomas, for example...

Houston are above us and Tampa have Glennon and McKown, Oakland have Schaub ,Tennessee have locker so I don't see any of them jumping considering Its a deep draft and going rate for a trade is gonna be about a second rounder


so that leaves Cleveland and Minnesota

Well Cleveland is a pretty pointless trade why switch with us and not the rams


Minnesota is about the only scenario I see that is non Clowney related and considering they have Cassell and needs everywhere you really think they will give up that number of picks when one of the top 3 will odds on fall to them anyway

My sleeper is LB Lamin Barrow. Nice speed, physical, shows great passion for the game. Gus was really praising and working with him at the Senior Bowl. He would be a good fit.
