Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

Just wanted to drop in and let all the haters know that despite everything around him being a mess Trevor is ranked 8th in the league in PFF rating. He’s good. He’s not the problem. Put a better team around him.

I wanted this thread closed on several occasions. He clearly is the guy. Never doubted him.

Yep, he's on a really good streak right now even though the team is still losing ball games. If they can keep him from getting hurt he's due for an extended stretch of these games. Now if the other guys can just do their damn jobs!

Tough stretch of games coming up. We’ll see if they’ve learned how to cope with adversity.
The crux here is that they could still play really well in these upcoming games and lose all of them. 2 teams that have 1 loss, a 5-2 Packers team and the 4-2 Eagles. This stretch may be the hardest stretch any team in the NFL has all season.

We could easily be (and probably should be) 4-3 or 5-2 ourselves right now.  It's not over in my mind.  One game at a time though. We are 2-5 all time against the Packers with our last victory coming in 2008.  We're long overdue for a W against them.

the problem is that to win it seems Trevor has to be perfect, cause the defense is so bad. look at the Houston game trevor missed 2 throws, every QB is missing throws. there are the Bo Nixs winning games and he has looked very bad. even Mahomes is not looking good but the team around him is picking him up.

Trevor was nearly perfect in Indy 3 weeks ago and we almost lost. you can't expect a QB to be perfect everyweek, and all the RB, WR., Oline etc.

Yeah - we can't do that unless you want eleventy new TL sux threads to pop up every time he makes a bad throw.

Easier to corral them all here.

For some it's more like "But...but...but I don't fully understand his contract."

We're gonna learn a lot about this team after the packers game...  If, and I know it's a big if, we can win this upcoming game we may very well go on an epic run.  We got a win yesterday, now it's time to buckle down and really focus on this upcoming game.

Lol so true. I love how the figure goes up and up the more they want to criticise him!

Glad the Packers won with the emotional high of the game winning kick for the kicker. Hopefully he returns to missing a few against the Jags like he did when he was here.

We were right there against the tin horns in our first game against them.  It was Trevor's worst game, and we only lost by 4.  I'm not ready to think we can't beat the Packers after watching the tin horns lose to the Packers.

The players are gonna have to have their hair on fire.  If the D can hold the Packers to 24, then I think Lawrence can get us 27

Well I was just looking at the psychological motivation and factors.

Packer's just won an emotional game at the last minute and continued a 3 game winning streak. They are on a high note and feeling good about themselves especially since they are right there in the mix for the division after the Love injury. They now have a non-conference game versus Jags on the road followed by a massive home game against the Lions that is a must win to claim their own division.

Also, most of them and their media were probably looking at the Jags as the easiest "can't lose" game during their 2nd quarter of the season especially after the Jags started 0-4 and because of their upcoming schedule.

This game fits nearly every type of a trap game for the Packers psychologically. Though the Jaguars would have to show they are a competent organization and take advantage of that situation, which is not something they have shown this or last season.

We didn't lean on Trevor as much this past weekend. It's better said that to win the defense just needs to be somewhere above deplorable.

Believe it or not, it’s actually possible to critique the guy and not hate him. He’s had good moments and bad moments. He’s mostly good like you said, he’ll likely never be great. Wanting him to play consistently isn’t a bad thing.

Well that's a bold take.

What makes you think that and what do you determine as great?

Is it really that bold? It’s being debated even now, whereas great players are generally acknowledged as being great.

But to answer your question, he needs to at least start by making the routine throws routinely. He needs to elevate his teammates and not have to rely on people around him to elevate his play. He needs to make the plays he’s not supposed to make and win the games he shouldn’t. If you’re wanting specific stats, I think you’re barking up the wrong tree. It’s more of a “you know it when you see it” quality. Sometimes referred to as “the it factor”. I think Patrick Mahomes is a great QB. He has bad games too and misses throws but there’s no question Trevor isn’t on that level. He’s been playing long enough now that he is what he’s putting on tape.

With that said, he’s really good when he’s on and if he develops more consistency he’ll be the best QB we’ve had here. That’s probably enough that we should be happy. No reason to make him out to be something he’s not.

League sucks. We are getting historically poor football. All of the advertised gambling is ruining the league. People are loyal more and more to individuals as there are ridiculous gambling options.

The college football changes is leading to unprepared individuals that do not have the practice capabilities. The extra game and restrictions on practice time have cause a loss of finess and fundamentals.

Trevor has talent and passes the eye test but the league is awful. The play gets better in November but honestly these teams don't build on anything anymore.

No go.out and download a gambling app and fund a new way to enjoy piss poor team sport.
