Paying players too early!

Or he should've played on the tag this year? Because those are the two options for having him on the roster today if he didn't sign when he did. The only option that actually made any sense would've been to sign him EARLIER so they could've tagged Ridley instead. Your entire premise in stirring up this discussion is just wrong. Same for Robinson, he was tagged TWICE before he signed a two year deal. They waited longer to sign him than just about any other player in, not just franchise history, but NFL history entirely. Very few players get tagged twice, but we did that with our incredibly average left tackle. So yeah, this is just an Epic Thread Fail on all counts. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

The problem is the pay grade. I agree. OG is right in this case. Lawrence is playing "great" and JHA is also playing "great".
Okay. Sure. Based on a few third party metrics that offer up participation ribbons and trophies to put lipstick on a pig. Lawrence is not worthy of his current contract and standing amongst his peers. Neither is JHA. Those two sacks TJ Watt had last night to close the game out with the Giants? That's what JHA is being paid for. He's expected to beat double teams guys. He's expected to excel more amongst his peers. Lawrence is supposed to protect the football better in critical moments. Two costly turnovers inside your own endzone are the polar opposite of that. He's expected to beat pressure. He's expected to excel more amongst his peers. It's common sense really. You don't need stats for geeks brought to you by nerds to make you feel warm and fuzzy about your favorite players. Nobody cares if you made 3rd base. That doesn't win games guys. That doesn't seal the deal. This is exactly how a lot of you guys sound around here and it's hilarious. https://youtu.be/a8U7n1XG9fk?si=jzQaXqWNx3yJgcHr "I wAs GeTtInG thErE". ![]() Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Note: I'm not defending Baalke. But that was a good signing. I also think that the JHA signing was fine. He's not getting many sacks, but he's still a big part of what's going good with our defense. Of course, there's not much that's good. But it's not JHA that's the problem. With a better defensive scheme and better coaching and player usage, JHA and Walker are 2 great ends. It's the inside linemen that are not being used right/not playing well that's the problem with this D line. Maybe it’s better that the board breaks down every week so we don’t have to have the TLaw discourse every day……
Hey Trevor. I know you were the first QB to crack 300 on the Packers and you did a lot of that without your top 2 WRs and you led the team back to tie the game only to see the worst defense in the league blow it once again but hey…. You suck! (10-29-2024, 07:20 AM)PV=nRT Wrote:(10-29-2024, 07:06 AM)Caldrac Wrote: He's played like [BLEEP] as well. His contract is based on actual accomplishments. What has our guy accomplished? You and I both know damn well he's going to eclipse that pace here shortly. Especially with murderers row staring at him over the next four games and the rest of the morale and ship sinking around him. Wishful thinking to believe otherwise. Also, what's he on pace for TD wise? If he's ratioing himself into oblivion with 1:1 instead of a 2:1 or 3:1 in favor of TD's over turnovers? We're right back to the very same conversation we've had with this kid since year one, year two and year three. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Thanks for digging us out of the hell hole you helped create in the 1st half by not getting more than 15 yards in one quarter of play, throwing an INT inside our own 20 after our defense finally got you one and then also fumbling the ball at the 5 yard line later on to ultimately spot the [BLEEP] team 14 points. Lawrence's career in a nutshell. Can deny, deny and deny it all you want. You can deflect it and compare him to guys that are within the same pay grade or higher that have actual accomplishments to support said pay grade, but, this has been the same damn theme, off and on, since day one with him. Spare me the "But...but..but..muh metrics and PfFfFfF's". Sick of it. If it looks like [BLEEP] and smells like [BLEEP]? It's probably [BLEEP]. In this case. I don't think there's anybody on here that defends him at all. We'll see what happens in a few weeks. He should really be the first person fired when the changes start coming. This is easy. 1. Mahomes has the hardware, moments and pedigree to exempt from said mistakes from time to time. Mahomes has shown the ability to make up for his mistakes. His career speaks for itself. Despite all of his poor play this year and his numbers being down? They're still undefeated and he's doing just enough at the right times in their games to ensure they win. 2. Lawrence does not have any of the above, in addition to that, he knows our defense is trash. He needs to be that much more aware and careful while handling the football that deep in his own territory. We don't have Chris Jones on our defense. We don't have Steve Spaggs as our Defensive Coordinator neither.
