Whelp looks like I will still be heading into work on thursday. Gonna suck, and likely be flooded. Wish I still had an SUV for now.

I got a message about storm surge here in the NE. Maybe I should be mowing my lawn like you guys too.

I remember your description of the aftermath of that one. The important thing is you did what you could and got out of harm's way both times.

I’m not going to start a thread about this because I know there are about 4 of you that are into golf. But I’ve got some questions. So for you golfers out there, my girlfriend and I are complete novices at golf. Amongst other dates, we have hit up Top Golf numerous times and have gradually gotten… not to be the people in the bay to the left, if ya know what I mean. We’re starting to hit them straight and have a lot of fun not only competing against each other but ourselves. That and our mini golf game is respectable, lol. I’ve found a county public driving range we can go to that doesn’t cost us a boat load like top golf. We plan on going there. She wants to take a lesson or two, I enjoy the trial and error, learn as you go approach. We’d like to go to a course one day and play a real round. So my questions are: any recommendations on a decent beginners club set so we can hit that range? And..when do we determine that we’re course ready/are there courses that are beginner friendly when that time comes?

HB, don’t try to sell me your wooden clubs!

I was going to ask where you've been........figured there was a woman involved. Big Grin

Top Golf is fun, but beware, it's nothing like playing on a real course.
A lesson or two is probably a good idea just to get the basics down, grip, stance, etc.
A decent set probably starts around $400 at Dick's Sporting Goods, Academy, PGA Superstore, etc.  Maybe you can get lucky on Craigslist.  LOL, I'll leave that one out there for a set-up line.
It's been years since I played there, but as I recall, Mill Cove on Monument Rd. was a decent course for beginners.  You want something that's open, not too long and without a lot of water.

P.S.  If the relationship can survive playing real golf together, it can survive anything.  Good luck!
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

You don’t know what you’re missing out on. I keep my mashie and niblick well polished. Although my brassie could use a good rub down.

Now, about golf, listen to what Sneakers says and take a lesson or two. I wish I had. It would’ve saved me years of frustration. Learn the proper techniques before you ingrain bad habits. If you want to be at least somewhat serious about the game, that’s the way to go. You’ll get so much more enjoyment from it.

I was beginning to wonder if the bags of candy the wife bought would go to waste. No one...and then they started showing up in droves.

Next year I'll close the shades and put on some pants a little earlier in the evening.

Trick or treat. Next year you're getting a roll of Charmin extra soft all over the yard.

We joined up with our neighbors and were the only group walking our neighborhood.

Thankfully, our neighbors still put lights on and hand out candy even though few if any kids come to their door.

Thanks for the golf tips guys. I think I’ll just try my hand at pickleball.

I had to try something else also. Every time I attempt to golf I just get frustrated and end up drinking too much. I can just tinker with stuff around the house to get frustrated and drink too much but at a much cheaper price.
