FIRE NIELSEN
|
I'm not sure firing Nielsen is a good idea. They were quite good last week and this week was great.

We will get smoked next week on d and this thread will be live with fire him.. the following week the will be average to below average after the bye against houston…. Then they will be ok the rest of the way because we play no one, well Maybe Flacco smokes us again at home but outside of that they will be ok… Either way we will lose out if Trevor doesn’t come back and to be honest I hope he doesn’t… might as well shoot for the highest possible pick so we have options to take best player or trade down for our next staff. This staff is cooked and that includes Nielsen
Team plays hard, they just aren't good enough.

Put the players in the best position to succeed.

He needs to create a scheme that fits to what the players do best. This staff isnt capable of that. We dont scheme guys open and get outcoached weekly. On D we play guys out of position as well. He's started using more zone the last couple weeks and it definitely helped. The radio coverage I was listening to said we played 2 deep safeties on 21 of 22 Vikings pass attempts 1st half.
I give him credit for making adjustments and trying to find a way to improve the D, I do wonder why it tool so long though.

Exactly, and when the guy who picks them is terrible at his job you get a D+ level roster that your coach makes C- and you guys blame the coach. I agree with you but it feels it's the inevitable GM/HC argument when things are bad. GM blames the HC for not getting enough out the players, HC blames GM for giving him terrible players. It falls down to the owner and who he feels is most to blame.

They worked together when building this roster. Its been said by both it is a collaberative when building the roster. Im sure Doug had a lot of say on this offense that has been put together. The damage is already done. He’s already got his suit cases packed. That Jaguars defense gave up 241 passing yards to Darnold.
