I can’t imagine he’d resign and potentially give up any remaining contract. Shad needs to nut up and can him. Baalke should go at the same time.

Doug has been planning his retirement since the end of the 2022 playoff run.  He thought he was gonna be lauded as a great HC, he forgot he had to actually do more work than just 1 season.

He's been ready to go but can't figure out an exit plan. He could quit but that would undermine any plans he has of continuing a coaching career, although I don't think any team would touch him after his finishes in Philly and here. Or he's just biding his time to either get fired or finish out the season for a guaranteed payout portion of his contract. My gut tells me it's the latter. He's going to lose his job anyway. Might as well ride it out and capitalize on the financial side.

I don't think he's ready. I have him on a list of five candidates I would like to have in 2025 but he's towards the bottom of it now. I really think this team needs a coach that can come in, and, clearly establish an identity. 

I know people don't like these names, but, I really do.

I like Bill Belichick, I like Mike Vrabel and I especially like Brian Flores. With those three, it feels like we would be getting a hardnosed coach, that will not tolerate bull [BLEEP] or nonsense. 

It feels like we would see immediate improvements defensively and that we would see some type of commitment to getting the offensive line and running game fixed. 

I am all for that. Anything to make Trevor Lawrence's job a whole hell of a lot easier over the next five years starting in 2025 I am 1,000% on board with. But, we CLEARLY need a culture shock and we CLEARLY need an identity.

Then Urban came in and "changed the culture" to be very hands on and...it imploded. Then Doug got here, things got better with a "pro coach" that brought a decent season...and it imploded. The common factor in this franchise is that since 2002 this bunch of yahoos goes out of their way to shoot themselves in the [BLEEP]. Every GM, every coach, most of the players...they just implode. We have here the Wile E. Coyote of sports entertainment, always some great new idea that ends up splattered all over the canyon floor.

With Baalke the HC options are extremely limited, and likely a retread.... my guess is Robert Saleh. Khan/Saleh share cultural similarities, Saleh will be desperate and agree to whatever Baalke says, and we will waste another 3-4 years.

It almost seems impossible for us to get out this hole we are dug into. Like a 200 foot sinkhole swallowed the team and everything associated with it, and rescue is above just looking down saying... "Yeah they are [BLEEP]".

I agree that we need more than a tough HC who's going to hold players to account. Whether you like it or not modern players need to be treated a little kinder and gentler.

I personally see us as kind of like the Rams under Fisher. A mid level team that has flashes of good but plenty of bad. 

McVay comes in, a talented O mind who starts getting players to understand fundamentals and situational football and they take big steps forwards.

I want us to be bold, I want a HC that's O focused and understands the modern strategies and gameplans. Ben Johnson is the stand out guy who fits that bill but is going to be a very tough signing.

I just don't want another retread with a journeyman HC.

The guys I listed (changed Matt to Mike) are all offensive coordinators. They may want to be head coaches. 

Shad has the money. Jags have 2 very good pass rushers, franchise QB, young ascending WR, a very winnable division and a top 5 pick. There will also be a new GM.

Of all the jobs that'll be open, I think this one will be one of if not the most attractive.

Giants are stuck in QB purgatory because DJ sucks. Dallas is enticing but you have to deal with Jerry. Bears are interesting but you have no shot of winning that division. Saints are a mess and so are the Jets.
