Many farmers have degrees in both Agriculture and Business/Finance, both skills very much needed to run a farm.  A single farm might gross 2 or 3 million per year, but after operating expenses they are lucky to net maybe 45k per year depending on the weather that year.

Also, farming is at least a 6 day per week job, sometimes 7 if animals are involved.  Many days might be 14-16 hour days.

After I told him, he said he's not going to take business from that guy.  He didn't ask what the price was.
And yes they are all Americans when I see them.

The roofers and other homes builders are foreigners, and the landscapers that the HOA hired for common areas seem to be foreigners, but the smaller teams that do residential lawns seem to be locals.

But
Many farms are corporate owned or privately owned and the owners hardly ever even visit.  Owners such as Bill Gates or the Saudi Land Fund.  Those guys have it very easy.  The guys they pay to work the land, not so much.

That’s not the point. Farms aren’t turnkey operations. A farm simply can’t be started up to grow crops and livestock. There is an incredible amount of knowledge and investment that goes into establishing one.
