Jordan Jefferson played 20 snaps in week ten and graded well in run defense on his snaps.

Jefferson is going to grow into a very good nose, the question is going to be Smith's ability to pass rush. He's another guy who is long on measurement but light on production so far in his college and pro careers.

His junior year he played 12 games, had 3 sacks. 1 less than his freshman year that ended after 9 games due to injury. No stats in his sophomore year because of the Baalke Special after 8 snaps in week 1. College definitely wasn't kind to him, but Trent made up for it!

Been wanting to see this for a month now - so I'll take this staff getting anything right in "better late than never mode" right now

Would really help the next defensive regime if he could be a contributing rotational player with at least some impact for the future IDL room.

They can't get anything right with Baalke. The interior is still trash, and, again, once you get outside of Walker and Hines-Allen? There's nobody else noteworthy as viable pass rushers.

That's 100% on him.

You can't blame Baalke for Hamilton, other than maybe the guaranteed money. Hamilton had some type of medical issue, staph or something similar that he got away from the team. He hasn't been the same since. They should have put him on a list and cut him. Get the insurance money back on the signing bonus and try and remove the guaranteed money because he couldn't play.

They didn't do that because they were so thin at DT and hoped he would be able to play in 2023. At this point, it's clear he is never getting back to where he was. The Jags probably also did want the NFLPA mad at them even more if they sued to void the contract because he got hurt outside of work.

He also drafted Maason Smith, Jordan Jefferson and signed Arik Armstead. Just seems like he's trying to cover up his litter box of turds he's managed to cling onto this roster. Just like that other waste of time and investment made in Fatukasi. We're thin at this position to begin with because of him. 

Also, again, as cited above, he has yet to find any other pass rusher outside of Josh Hines-Allen, who he didn't draft, and, Travon Walker, who, while has improved, has not been anywhere near the pass rushing threat that Aidan Hutchinson was prior to his brutal leg injury earlier this year.

Abdullah has been a bust. He traded Gipson and RHH away and there's been effectively nobody else to add into the rotation to make it interesting on defense. We can blame Nielsen to some extent, but, it also says a lot about your roster when you're rotating "fresh" legs out there and still not finding any success at effecting the QB. Especially in contests that have been close in some cases and the opposing offense was forced to play more honest at times in obvious time constraining situations.

The interior D Line has been bad.

But watching our LBs and CBs and Safeties look completely lost is a total failure of Neilsen. You can't defend the absolute failure of this this defensive coaching staff.
