Are you referring to Charles Kushner, the father of his SIL, Jared Kushner?

Yeah, family relationship, not sure if I'm using the right name for it

Not a damn thing except they can get away with it again. Hunter is a train wreck for a reason and it's because he's never had to pay any price for his stupidity.

If I were a parent I would not circumvent justice if my child was guilty of a crime. They commit the crime, they pay the price.

I've never understood the whole Presidential pardon thing and don't agree with it, especially if they're allowed to pardon members of their own families. That should absolutely not be allowed due to obvious conflict of interest.

Between the failure of Harris's campaign bid and this pardon, the Democrats are imploding. I guess they're adopting the 'Go Hard or Go Home' saying except they're going hard before they go home.

Were you upset when Trump pardoned his father in law?

I don't follow pardons closely because I think they're BS, plus that was four years ago, right? A lot has happened in four years. But to answer your question, it was wrong of Trump to pardon his son-in-law's father. Any member of a presient's family, even if they're family by marriage, should be considered a conflict of interest. Regardless of who is POTUS. Period end of story.

I'm not singling out Trump by bringing up his past pardons; I'm just pointing out how they ALL do it.  And they shouldn't be able to pardon convicted criminals like that.  I remember Bill Clinton pardoning this guy: Marc Rich - Wikipedia because his wife was a big campaign contributor to the Hillary Clinton for Senate campaign.

You can read up on some of Bill Clinton's pardons here: Bill Clinton pardon controversy - Wikipedia

The only way they should be able to pardon people is if there is some new exculpatory evidence that calls their conviction into doubt.  Unfortunately, the ability of Presidents to pardon anyone they want is in the Constitution.  So it's not going away.

I’m with Marty. I wouldn’t let my son go to prison if I could prevent it. If I were in Joe Biden’s shoes, I would do the same thing given his son’s crimes. However, if he were convicted of a serious crime against humanity, then I would reconsider.

The whole aura of Presidential pardons just stinks.

It's not just the fact that he pardoned his son, it's also the fact that they consistently lied about it, tried covering it up and tried to persecute political opponents because of it..

They can all fry in [BLEEP] hell..

Nowhere in there did you say you would pardon your son to cover up your corruption and keep yourself out of jail, but I have to assume you would do that as well.

I’d pardon the hell out of my child. But what I wouldn’t do is lie for so long about not doing it. I’d walk into office saying I’m protecting my child, even if it’s from their own stupidity. It’s not the pardon that gets me, it’s the sanctimonious lying about it that’s the bad part!

Bingo!!

It was all the lying and covering up.. If you're going to raise your son to be like Hunter, you better be accountable for his [BLEEP] ups.

Thank god my son is head and shoulders above Hunter so I wouldn’t have to worry about it. But if he wasn’t I wouldn’t be out there saying he’s the best and smartest person I know and acting like butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth when the whole world knows his issues. I’d be like look, my son has problems, he’s an idiot at times, but I’m not letting him rot in jail when I can do something about it. But his crusty backside will be in rehab toot sweet!

Well, your son has a great mother, while Hunter has an extremely [BLEEP] father. I have serious doubts that your son would even do A FRACTION of the things that piece of trash did.. Most people wouldn't.

He’s an only child, so sleeping with his dead brothers wife would be beyond awkward. Laughing

I respect this point of view.
And I assume you'd do the same for your son-in-law's father.
But I think you're selling Joe a little short.
Joe allowed his son to be investigated, tried, and convicted.  Joe could have stopped the process with a blanket pardon at any time.  It's a credit to him that he didn't.

Before the election?  Are you really that naive?

Might have backfired, but yes, he could have done it.  Trump pardoned Roger Stone before the 2020 election. Stone was trying to cover up for Trump.  Didn't turn into a big issue.

You sell yourself short every day when you let your limbic system control what you post.
