What a piece of trash coach.

Texans are officially my more hated team than the tacks.

The guy wants to play that way? If I were Stroud I might want to talk to my coach about it. He just made it worse.

The way I look at it the HC saw nothing wrong with it, even blaming the Jags. Stroud saw nothing wrong, and of course the perp didn't either. So next time Stroud slides anyone can do the same to him and it would be fine by their definition.

What the heck we now playing rollerball or something? Our DA should bring assault charges like they do the hockey players.

This would have produced a more fueled rivalry in the past. The NFL Front Office has no stomach for these things. Tepid fines and Tepid responses. This is the football you get when the Commish identifies as a football supporter instead of the weasel politician he is in reality.

This team disappoints on many, many levels and it all bears to be seen if there is a true turning point coming. The Texans are going to get crushed in the playoffs. It makes the tissue paper deplorable state of Jaguar football even more disappointing.

Stroud said he thinks his teammate didn't mean to hurt Trevor, not that he didn't see anything wrong with the hit. He is the leader of their team, what do you expect him to say? I hope they ban our player?.

I’m not so sure he didn’t “mean it”. The guy has a history this year of going after players out of bounds, punching them, etc

That said I understand stroud taking the middle road on it, but Ryan actually defending it and blaming Trevor is classless.

He definitely meant to do it.

Even if he didn't know he was sliding, what kind of tackle looks like that?

Honestly this play has made me question how much I should watch the NFL. Seeing someone take a TBI like this on an intentional dirty play, with only a 3 game suspension. Maybe the safety really just will never get there in this sport.

Believe he would have gotten two games if Ryans hadn't opened his mouth. The third game is on Ryans. Idiotic response. What he should have done is wait until the penalty was announced, then made his comments.

Back in my JUCO days the opposing QB would have been battered. My HC was a former Marine and Korea veteran, all he would have to do is give, "the look." He'd say, "All we need is 11 to play."

"I have no comment on that. We will let the NFL and Shahir work out whatever punishment and be ready for our next game with or without him."
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Michael Strahan said it looked intentional because of how his elbow was extended. My guess is this was some kind of payback for how we put the hurt on Stroud in the beginning of the game. I don't know if the cameras picked it up, but one of our defenders (I don't remember who) put Stroud down hard as he was making a pass. It took him a few seconds to get up and he was obviously feeling the hit. Maybe Al - [BLEEP] head saw this as a provocation to head hunt.

The title of this thread as well as the "article" linked by the OP is misleading.  I don't think that Coach Ryan was blaming Trevor at all.  He was actually trying to defend and justify his player's dirty hit.  Take a look at the transcript of his press conference and read his whole quote.  He talks about quarterbacks sliding in general and never once said that it was Trevor's fault.

Where I disagree with Coach Ryan is when he said that our team "over reacted" after the hit.

Quote:And the entire thing is Azeez – he hits the guy, but their sideline overreacts and it turns into a melee. It wasn't our guys. It's their team overreacted, pushed our guy, dragging our guy to the sideline, so that's uncalled for on that side. We have to be better on the sidelines, as well, with both teams.

If I was a coach I would be disappointed if my team didn't react that way to a dirty hit on our quarterback (or any other player for that matter).

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

I am sure they (Ryans/Casserio) ripped him (Azeez) behind closed doors privately, but really shouldn't have said what they said in public either (Sliding late, we started fight). I am sure they will get some media training afterwards.

I'd prefer a coach/gm that defends our players, instead of Doug P who openly ripped Jarrian for getting involved in the fight and Trent Baalke who hasn't said a word all year. It's not like any of them from the tinhorns side is going to openly rip Azeez, and honestly we shouldn't expect that either.

Or just beat their [BLEEP] into oblivion on the scoreboard and not sink to their level of dirty play.

Full on Ga Tech-Cumberland.

Either way. Moving forward. I hope we clean their clocks on both sides of the football. [BLEEP] that team.
