Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

His long term brain health and quality of life post football was my #1 concern.

All of that will continue to be at risk for him as long as Baalke and Pederson are involved with this franchise. It's a shame Trevor is stuck in the middle of this mess.

Man. He really sucks.

One other thing. Trevor has cleared the concussion protocol? That's good news and should quieten down the retirement talk (sadly on here)

But that also means he could play Sunday?  Big Grin

We want Trevor brain addled. Then he doesn’t realize what dire situation he’s in here. If he can think clearly, he’ll want to play elsewhere.

Sadly true. We've got practically every part of him injured in the last year and a half and will probably run him out behind the same Oline next year. How could that go wrong again again?

Are we allowed to play him in one of those inflatable orb balls?

Difficulty: Neither his shoulder injury nor his concussion had anything to do with the o-line.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

That's true. Can't argue with that.

Doug you got to go man. Maybe the grass wont be greener on the outside but this [BLEEP] is over.

I have a bad feeling both Doug and Trent are going to snake their way through this and still be here next year.

Have faith my dude. Liam Coen and the Bucs assistant GM are on the way.

The Jags have botched landing Trevor Lawrence in historical fashion.

Kept Baalke. Hired Urban. Kept Baalke again. Failed to get a good OL to protect Trevor. Failed to really upgrade the WR position for a while. Failed at implementing an offense that best suits his skill set. Continues to employ a fossil HC with an archaic scheme. Failed to build a defense that may actually help. Failed at creating a running game.

It’s one of the biggest failures for a franchise that I can remember.

And after all that, I’ll be sucked back in come July with Liam Coen at HC and Cunningham as GM.

As bad as the Colts organization was with sorrounding Luck with a solid team, he wasn't very smart either. He threw his body out there like a linebacker.

(12-04-2024, 06:18 PM)JagFan81 Wrote: Why are people on here so desperate to finish Trevors career for him?

Maybe because they had enough of his mediocre play at the QB position? He will be entering his fifth season next year and he hasn't really shown any consistency so far. Doubt the lights switches anytime soon.

I, mean, even before that nasty hit - Lawrence wasnt having a good game.

The looming reduced capacity seating year and year playing outside of Jacksonville certainly make it easier for an owner to make unpopular HC/FO decisions if does indeed decide to retain.

I'm not sure I understand that line of thinking. If retaining them such unpopular coaches/FO, then fans won't travel to see them out of Jax in 27. Plus if they are still bad by 28, then T Law will be out of the league or moved on to a new team. That would be going into a new stadium which they need seat licenses purchased and fans buying tickets with fans having little hope

None of that would be happening in your forecast

I give up with this place at times. 'Trevors done', 'he's now Tua', 'he's one hit from retirement' and now people are annoyed we won as that's hurt our draft position and suddenly we were going to get a haul of draft picks which would turn the roster around (ignoring the years of us not doing that with top 5 picks)

We've got more than enough genuine stuff to be concerned about with the roster and franchise, we don't need to start inventing new drama.

This would be an extreme test of locker room chemistry if so.
I have a feeling you'd see trade requests like rats fleeing a sinking ship.

If it is indeed going to be Orlando, many locals there will be more likely to take in a home NFL game whether they are a fan of the Jaguars or not than they would to travel 2+ hours to Jacksonville and 2+ hours home regardless of coach or front office.  Also, it's Disney.  Many more fans of the opposition will likely travel to see their team while incorporating a family vacation out of it.  The Jags are only going to rely on a fraction of the Jax market fans traveling and even if all of the above assumptions fail, it's still infinitely less embarrassing to play in a relatively empty temporary home stadium on the outskirts of the home market than it is to do so in your own market.  It may provide some cover in the mind of Shad given these considerations if he is indeed committed to continuity and that the blame for this season's failures were significantly influenced by circumstance instead of a lack of leadership and/or personnel issues is all.  I'm not personally forecasting anyone being retained. I would put odds on either Pederson or Baalke being retained at less than 10%

Also, it would be entirely #becauseJaguars for them to have the best season imaginable that year they play outside of Jacksonville.

If we get the right head coach and can upgrade our interior O-Line...  I could see this happening.

Orlando is only about 2 hours drive from Duval.  Depending on the ticket prices, I wouldn't mind making that drive a few times.  Not in September or October, Orlando is even hotter than Jax is!  But if the team is looking good, I'd make a few trips to watch us play.  Not if we still have Pederson and Baalke, but if we get a good HC?  [BLEEP] man, this team could be in the playoffs next year.  (Can't believe I'm even saying this based on how down I was yesterday.  I guess I just needed a good night's sleep)

They also harken back to more successful days for the Jags.

Current players should be banned from wearing them until they can start winning again.
