Coaching Firings/ Personnel Changes

I used to love Crazy Train rocking when the D came out.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVovq9TGBw0 I used to love the D-Line high school kids banging on their drums right before the half time show. Our cheerleaders were pretty hot back then too. I used love the energy of the stadium knowing that we were in a game. One half of the stadium would say "WE ARE" And the other half the the stadium would say "JAGUARS!!!!" And it would go like that a few times before the kick off... We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! I'd wager he has an offer before then, would be typical of us dragging feet and having to settle for leftovers. I believe the time for interviews would be the week leading up to wild card games.

Engram done for the year now. Per DiRocc. Torn labrum.

As good as Engram has been, our receiving core and O Line are expensive cap wise. If Strange shows a lot, it would actually put cutting Engram as a post June 1st cut on the table. I can see Kirk being released for sure. Would hate to see Engram released personally. I think with a better coaching staff they would find a way to utilize his skill set more. Not a really deep TE class to find a mismatch guy like that in 2025 and I don't know what the free agency class looks like. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Engram is great and a top 5 TE in the NFL right now. It would be a huge loss to let him go.
He's also the one who first had Trevor's back, and is also the best Jags TE ever. He needs to stay.
It's actually mindblowing, knowing the culture this franchise has... people actually think letting Engram (and his leadership) walk out the door is a GOOD thing lmao.

In no order, TE's in the NFL right now: George Kittle Travis Kelce David Njoku Brock Bowers Trey McBride Sam LaPorta TJ Hockenson Dallas Goedert Dalton Kincaid The Ghost of Mark Andrews I could understand the argument of a Top 10 TE, but not top 5. Especially since Engram is generally an average blocker at best. Plus he is now 30 at a position where injuries can start to pile up, especially if your value is speed/athleticism based and which makes you an above average pass catcher. Most TE's who age well, do so because they upgrade at blocking. Sure he is being paid a reasonable contract for his production, but his cap would be the 3rd highest TE in the league for 2025. Plus that they will have a lot of money tied up in a other position groups that need to be fixed. Having a potential replacement in Strange on a very cheap contract, it makes total sense to consider cutting Engram and using that cap to help either OL/DL. Leadership is good and all but that cannot be the reason you keep a guy on a 3 win team that is arguable one of the 10 worst passing attacks over the past 19 games. Unless they go to Engram, trying to extend/restructure him for say 2-3 years, basically buying out his last few expected productive seasons at a cheaper rate and hopefully lessening that cap hit for next year. The issue with that is the Jags already have ~$50 million dead cap in 2027 due to void years. So looking forward they have figure out how to build out this roster with cheaper good talent. Plus if the culture is so bad right now, how is Engram that much of needle mover there? Consistent franchise culture comes from the top down, FO and Coaches. Agreed, Brenton would have to do some really special stuff for me to justify walking away from Engram. Kirk is all but gone, but I see a lot more in the connection betw Engram and TLaw and Engram is just an effort dude. He'd work in dang near any system regardless of who we bring in. I have a feeling he's a leader in the locker room, which is significant, especially during a transition. Sometimes saving money isn't worth the rest of what you lose. The same logic they had when the got rid of Calais Campbell and Daryl Smith. If Engram can't come back 100% then cutting him is the right move because of the injury but if he will be able to make a full recovery this 3-11 team lacks talent and we don't need to get rid of one of our best players on top of eating the dead money. 31 for a TE isn't that old either. Zack Ertz is 4 years older than Engram and both have about the same style of play woth Engram being a better blocker and Ertz is still a good TE when healthy. Travis Kelce is 5 years older and still really good when healthy. His healthy should be the only reason for him possibly getting cut.

Kirk and Engrams future in Jax depends on their health imo. If Kirk will be 100% healthy for training camp I don't think he goes anywhere. I think both get restructured if healthy. If their injury will lingur into next year then I could see them out the door, we need both healthy for the 2025 season or they do no good. |
