9 for 198 and 2TD

Worst secondary in team history. They have to get this fixed in the offseason.
Ledbetter was able to get a sack today, but it’s bad at DT too. How does Ryan still have a job? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Lol. 120 of it was linebacker coverage. What on Earth is that about...

It's not been this bad before and it's the same stuff every week. Caldwell got thrown under the bus for last year and Nielsen may be one of the biggest reasons Doug gets fired this year. I blame Doug. He's failed in hiring the correct defensive coordinator and he's yet to identify and resolve the issues on that side of the football, which is apart of his job and his title being the HEAD coach.
Caldwell was right. The problem is still here in the building. At least Caldwell's squad was more consistent in pass rushing and creating turnovers. When you look at Nielsen's history? He had CO-DC responsibilities in New Orleans with Dennis Allen and then he had an okay year in Atlanta where teams didn't have to put a ton of points on you anyway with Desmond Ridder as your opposing QB. Just bad decision making all around. Not to mention Baalke probably not having the right players to begin with to fit whatever scheme it is that Nielsen is trying to run. Earlier on this season they tried more man-to-man, then they tried zone, then they mixed in both, etc. There's still no push from the front four though. As much grief as this secondary gets? Aaron Rodgers [BLEEP] discovered the fountain of youth today in Jacksonville and was moving in and out of the pocket and making plays with his legs because the base front couldn't get to him at all. Hines-Allen? Walker? Nowhere to be found today. Armstead? Lollygagging. Just pathetic. It's a trickle down effect. If your trench sucks, so does your secondary. Doug really needed a DC with HC qualities to cover his [BLEEP] like he had in Philadelphia with Jim Schwartz. Somebody like Vic Fangio or Jack Del Rio, maybe Ron Rivera, etc. He really needs somebody extremely competent and qualified to run his defense for him because he's apparently clueless when it comes to that side of the football and he's barely scraping by on offense, which is something he's supposed to be good at. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Who knows lmao, it did look like Lloyd stopped running with him), 43 (Campbell 1 on 1), and 71 (Lloyd had initial coverage and Savage was supposed to take him and got burned). The one on Savage was so bad, we were playing 2 deep safeties there, that really isn't on Lloyd at all. Davante also beat Montaric Brown 1 on 1 for a fade td. He beat Campbell again 1 on 1 for the 2 point conversion. Bottom line, this scheme is the WORST I have ever seen. Also- Tyson got BBQ chicken'd today badly. Well that's ultimately going to be the big conversation at the season end and it will be interesting to see which way Shad falls. Is it coaching, the roster or both. It's not like it's a D filled with rookies and UFA. There are players we've seen play well but the mistakes are mind boggling. Do they not fit the system? Is the system broken?

Hicken keeps calling Mac-n-cheese a great QB, but he throws terrible interceptions and his arm is college-level. The great QB was playing for the Jets, and worked that weak secondary. If the Jaguars can’t fix the defensive line, particularly in the middle, we’re going to need a lockdown CB. I’d plug Leadbetter in as my starter ant DT and take whatever production I can get out of him for the entire game for the rest of the way.
We can’t have guys pulling up to the stadium to go for 200 yards and score at will. The fake punt wasn’t solely on Muma. Abdullah and Johnson were just as guilty. Johnson ran down the field for almost 10 yards before he realized what was going on. Abdullah was rushing with his head down, and could’ve read the play and reacted quicker. Muma at least read the play but he just couldn’t get there, and a holding penalty could’ve been called there. Cam Little is quietly having a “2017 Lambo” type of season. Thomas should hit 1,000 yards and possibly 10 TDs. (If he didn’t drop a short TD pass earlier in the season, he would be sittin’ on 8 right now). Morse was over-powered and bent but didn’t break a few times. In order to fill some other holes, we’re going to need another year out of him. As of right now, there’s not a starting quality safety on the roster. Man I miss guys like Donovin Darius, Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed, Bob Samders, Adrian Wilson type safeties. Bring that [BLEEP] over the middle and you’re gonna be struck down. We just don’t have that right now. Savage is a far cry from that type of impactful player.

"Davante Adams had 135 Rec yds in the final 4 minutes of regulation, the most by any player in a game this century, per ESPN Research." LOL
With 198 receiving yards, DeVante Adams becomes just the 10th player to have 190+ receiving yards against the Jaguars in franchise history, in a single-game.
It ties Sammy Watkins as the 2nd most single-game receiving yards ever allowed inside the Jaguars’ home stadium. The most ever allowed was Redskins’ Albert Connell during the 2000 season when he had 211 receiving yards. Adam’s 198 receiving yards is tied with the 4th most allowed by Jacksonville in a single-game. (Sammy Watkins) The most receiving yards given up by Jaguars in a single-game: 1. Andre Johnson - 273 @ Hou 2. Josh Gordon - 261 @ Cle 3. Albert Connell - 211 @ Jax 4. DeVante Adams - 198 @ Jax 4. Sammy Watkins - 198 @ Jax 6. Terrell Owens - 197 @ Jax 7. Reggie Wayne - 196 @ Jax 7. Yancy Thigpen - 196 @ Pit 9. Michael Floyd - 193 @ Jax 9. Amani Toomer - 193 @ NYG

We can eventually rid ourselves of terrible management.

Did they coach Savage to go the wrong way or are the players just dumb? It's so weird how they really don't seem to know what's going on once they break the huddle. I think the Lloyd to Mike experiment blew up because the guy just has no instinct for the position. Once they moved him out of that role when Foye came back he started playing much better. I just don't think the "Hey, let's completely change the defensive scheme in one offseason" deal worked out with the FA class they brought in. They don't have the horses they need to collapse the middle and cover the outside, but Neilsen calls stuff oddly too. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
More evidence that you cannot just decide in an off season you are switching from 3-4 to 4-3
Roster is bad and you can't be successful with the wrong personnel. This team is what it is and has been.

Like was mentioned above this team needs an elite cornerback or two. Also the team needs a real defensive coordinator who can call blitzes. You have to create pressure sometimes when the down four aren’t. (12-16-2024, 12:24 AM)flsprtsgod Wrote:(12-15-2024, 11:52 PM)carp8dm Wrote: You know... It's coaching. Like they can't even figure out how to best use the players we have. I don't even know who to blame anymore. Maybe it's not the coaches and the GM. Maybe it's just the city? Do they just get soft the moment they come here? Honestly, I don't get it. Savage looked great against Miami. Seriously, go back and watch #6 in week 1. He was all over the field in the 1st half!!! And then, since week 1 he's been terrible. And what the hell happened to Campbell? I know he's had a hammy injury, but he's been terrible even when he's playing. And Cisco??? What the heck? Dude might as well just take a long walk off a short pier. Oh, and why the hell is Dewey only playing punt protection???? We just never have the players in the right spots. I just don't get what the hell this coaching staff is doing. It's like they have no idea who we have as players and how to use them the best. We should have won this game... Not that it matters. But dude, we always beat the jets. Losing to them is a slap the the face. It's just not right. I'm drunk. I should just go to sleep.

In a crucial situation late in a game, the opposing team's superstar WR, the most important guy for us to cover, is wide open, no one within 20 yards of him? This problem goes way beyond talent level. It's the coaching. These guys are not properly prepared. Any crappy roster, with decent coaching, would play better than that. It's the coaches- either the scheme or the teaching of the scheme. |
